New antibiotics of the nocardamine class from a marine-derived Streptomyces sp.
Three cyclic peptides were isolated from the culture broth of the actinomycete Streptomyces sp. isolated from an unidentified marine sponge collected from Jaeju island. These compounds exhibited significant activity against various bacterial strains.2
New bioactive macrolides from the sponge Chondrosia corticata
A series of oxazole-containing macrolides and related metabolites were isolated from the sponge Chondrosia corticata collected form Guam. The structures of three new compounds were defined by combined spectroscopic analyses. These compounds exhibited significant cytotoxicity toward the human leukemia cell ine K562 as well as antifungal activity toward Candida albicans.2
