On Defining W ords in Korean Dictionaries

In this talk, I have a great interest in the meaning-explanation of words in Korean Dictionaries which were published in the last half-century. We found ourselves living in an era which needed better dictionaries, because many of the dictionaries already published showed a lot of mistakes and faults especially in explaining the words meaning. I indicated that many kinds of mono-lingual Korean dictionaries have been published without detailed examinatios or a great deal of thought. Also, to compile a substantial dictionary, I pointed out the necessity of theoretical preparations and practical training. For the above rearrangement, we have discussed the fundamental operations; establishing the lexicography, techniques of meaning-classifìcation, co-existing thesaurus, foundation of the tíme-spírit (ideology), etc
