ON THE BREEDING OF LAVER ALONG THE COAST OF THE TOKYO BAY AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE RECLAMED RANDS THERE ―ESPECIALLY ON THE CASE OF THE COAST OF CHIBA―
In the breeding of laver “Hibi” or the bamboo with branches is used in the process of the production and they attach the spore of laver to the bamboo and grow it. But “Sodahibi” or the branch of tree, which had been used since olden times, had difficulty in succeeding in the deep sea areas, because its length was limited. Later, the improvement to “Amihibi” or the net with props of bamboo poles made it possible to enlarge the nursery for laver to the deeper sea areas. The shoals with highly-developed beach along the shore of the Tokyo Bay had the regional characteristic as the nurseries for laver from old. In 1950 the nurseries for laver were 2,263 ha. in area (in 1954 9,781 ha.), that is, occupied 44.5% of the whole Japan. But there nurseries for laver overlapped with the sea areas for the construction of the reclaimed lands and in 1963 the nurseries, which faced the coast line of Tokyo, vanished and laver beds in every district of the coast is in the state of vanishing gradually. The object of this research consists in the investigation of the change and the background of the regional characteristic in the shoals with highly-developed beach by making the nurseries for laver the index and investigating the relation the index and the construction of the reclaimed lands, In this report the change and the background of the regional characteristic of the coast of chiba is investigated on the basis of the relation between the nurseries for laver and the construction of the reclaimed lands in the coast of Chiba. The coast of Chiba which is shoaling beach from Urayasu at the mouth of the Edo River to Futts was once the nurseries for laver with high productivity from a unit. By the decision of “the plan for the Construction of the Seaside Industrial Area of the Tokyo Bay” in the conference of the civil engineering of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 1940 began the construction of the reclaimed lands of 297 ha. which was the surface of the sea facing the coast line of the Imai Town in the City of Chiba. And in 1952 the construction of the seaside industrial area was advanced earnestly in the Coast of Chiba on the basis of “the Plan for the Promotion of the Industry and the Economy of the Chiba Prefecture” Consequently in 1972 only the nurseries for laver of 1,392 ha. was left and the nurseries left too will probably vanish in the near future on account of the construction of the reclaimed lands for the construction of harbors. Once the nursery for laver did not have the possibility to succeed except the shoals with highly-developed beach, but the development of the nursery for laver of the raft style made it possible to enlarge offshore the extent of sea which can succeed as the nursery for laver. Nevertheless, with the constructioh of harbors and the reclaimed lands the fishermen abandoned the nurseries for laver and the public fishing ground, because they could get the advantageous compensation money for fishery which was the best possible amount calculated on the period of the highest output of laver. Namely, the output of laver was important because the amount of the compensation money for fishery was calculated on the next formula: [Formula] Consequently, the nurseries for laver vanished gradually and the regional characteristic the shoaling beach of Chiba used to have, have changed into the one of the harbors where large ships come and go, and of the seaside industrial area as the nurseries for laver vanished. According to the result of memo-motion work study, the standard working time and man-hours on each component positions are settled, and the relationship between man-hours and component elements which are the position, the floor lebel, the size and the form is studied by multiple regression analysis. Automatic Thoughts and Facial Expressions in Cognitive Restructuring With Virtual Agents
Cognitive restructuring is a well-established mental health technique for amending automatic thoughts, which are distorted and biased beliefs about a situation, into objective and balanced thoughts. Since virtual agents can be used anytime and anywhere, they are expected to perform cognitive restructuring without being influenced by medical infrastructure or patients' stigma toward mental illness. Unfortunately, since the quantitative analysis of human-agent interaction is still insufficient, the effect on the user's cognitive state remains unclear. We collected interaction data between virtual agents and users to observe the mood improvements associated with changes in automatic thoughts that occur in user cognition and addressed the following two points: (1) implementation of a virtual agent that helps a user identify and evaluate automatic thoughts; (2) identification of the relationship between a user's facial expressions and the extent of the mood improvement subjectively felt by users during the human-agent interaction. We focus on these points because cognitive restructuring by a human therapist starts by identifying automatic thoughts and seeking sufficient evidence to find balanced thoughts (evaluation of automatic thoughts). Therapists also use such non-verbal behaviors as facial expressions to detect changes in a user's mood, which is an important indicator for guidance. Based on the results of this analysis, we provide a technical guidance framework that fully automates the identification and evaluation of automatic thoughts to achieve a virtual agent that can interact with users by taking into account their verbal and non-verbal behaviors in face-to-face situations. This research supports the possibility of improving the effectiveness of mental health care in cognitive restructuring using virtual agents.journal articl
