Irrigation system operations and effective rainfall- Case study on low land paddy irrigation area -

Rainfall over irrigated paddy fields can save irrigation water volume which could be stored reservoirs. The estimation of saved w ater volum e (effective rainfall) and its relation with rainfall has been the m ajor issues in w ater system planning. Irrigation system m anagement which activates the effective rainfall created on the paddy plots has been neglected. Case study on irrigation system managements for effective rainfall was exam ined. Irrigation water discharge after rainfall, the timing of irrigation w ater operations, the duration of restricted irrigation w ater, the volum e of effective rainfall, the contribution of irrigation system operation for flood mitigation was surveyed. A half of rainfall events cause irrigation w ater decrease. The decrease of irrigation discharge after rainfall is not large. Only a few rainfall events which are in the ripening stage or over 90mm cause com plete irrigation stop. Irrigation w ater decreases quickly after rainfall and continues long. About 30% of operations are implem ented before peak rainfall. Irrigation decrease continues at least 15 hours and durations of 30% of irrigation decrease are m ore than 3 days. Effective rainfall on project level water requirem ent is estimated by hourly irrigation w ater discharge. Effective rainfall divided by rainfall is sm all as com pared w ith other surveys. The irrigation w ater decrease effects m uch on shortening of inundation duration and little on reduction of maximum flood discharge.articl

Speech to Lip Synthesis by HMM

Synthesized lip movement images can compensate lack of auditory information for hearing impaired people, and also contribute to realize a human-like face of computer agents. We propose a novel method to synthesize lip movement based on mapping from an input speech using HMM. This paper compares the HMM method and a conventional method using VQ or ANN to convert speech-to-lip movement images. In the experiment, error and time difference error between synthesized lip movement images and original ones are utilized for evaluation. The result shows that the error of the HMM method is 8.6% smaller than that of the VQ method. Moreover, the HMM method reduces time difference error by 34.8% than the VQ's. The result also shows that the errors are mostly caused by phoneme /h/ and /Q/. Since those phonemes are dependent on succeeding phoneme, the context-dependent synthesis on the HMM method is applied to reduce the error. The context-dependent HMM method realizes that the error(difference error) is reduced by 11.3%(8.9%) compared with the original HMM method.conference pape

病期Iホジキンリンパ腫に対する放射線療法を省略したVAMP療法の有用性

病期I，病期II A かつ巨大腫瘤を有しない小児の早期ホジキンリンパ腫（HL; Hodgkin lymphoma）に対する標準治療は，2–4コースの多剤併用化学療法と初発時に腫瘍が存在したリンパ節領域（IF; involved field）に対する低線量照射（IF照射）である．早期HLに対し，さまざまな化学療法が試みられている．また，晩期合併症の軽減を目的として，治療反応が良好だった場合，IF照射省略が試みられている．我々は2例の小児早期HLに対して，vinblastine，doxorubicin，methotrexate，prednisoloneによるVAMP療法を実施した．VAMP療法2コース後に18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/com puted tomography で完全寛解に到達したことを確認し，2コースのVAMP療法を追加してIF照射を省略した．肝酵素上昇と好中球減少症が治療中に認められた有害事象であった．2例は4年以上完全寛解を維持しており，晩期合併症を認めていない．VAMP療法は小児早期HLに対して安全な化学療法レジメンである可能性が示唆された．The standard treatment for early-stage Hodgkin lymphoma (ESHL), either stage I or IIA without a bulky mass, comprises two to four courses of chemotherapy and involved-field radiation therapy (IFRT). To date, various chemotherapeutic regimens have been attempted for ESHL. In addition, omitting IFRT has been attempted to reduce late effects when a good treatment response is observed. We treated two pediatric ESHL patients with the VAMP regimen comprising vinblastine, doxorubicin, methotrexate, and prednisolone. Both patients achieved complete remission (CR), as confirmed by 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography, after two courses of the VAMP regimen, followed by two additional courses of the VAMP regimen without IFRT. Elevation of the levels of liver enzymes and neutropenia were the adverse events observed during treatment. Both patients maintained CR and did not develop late effects for more than four years after treatment. The findings of this study suggest that the VAMP regimen is safe for pediatric ESHL.journal articl
