Microscopy and Biomimetics: the NanoSuit? Method and Image Retrieval Platform
This review aims to clarify a suitable method towards achieving next-generation sustainability. As represented by the term “Anthropocene”, the Earth, including humans, is entering a critical era, therefore science has a great responsibility to solve it. Biomimetics, the emulation of the models, systems, and elements of nature, especially biological science, is a powerful tool to approach sustainability problems. Microscopy has made great progress with the technology of observing biological and artificial materials and its techniques have been continuously improved, most recently through the NanoSuit? method. As one of the most important tools across many facets of research and development, microscopy has produced a large amount of accumulated digital data. However, it is difficult to extract useful data for making things as biomimetic ideas despite a large amount of biological data. Here, we would like to find a way to organically connect the indispensable microscopic data with the new biomimetics to solve complex human problems.journal articl
<原著>山梨県における24 か月未満の乳幼児初回有熱性尿路感染症の診療についての検討
目的:近年,様々な有熱性尿路感染症(Febrile Urinary Tract Infection: fUTI)の診療のガイドラインが国内外から示されている。しかし,いずれも利点と欠点がありどのガイドラインを選択するかは国内でも意見が分かれている。山梨県内でも,各病院によりfUTI の取り扱いは異なっており,検査や治療の過不足が予想される。そこで今回,山梨県の乳幼児のfUTI 診療の現状の把握を目的に調査を行った。対象及び方法:山梨県内の小児の入院病床を有する全11 施設に,診断方法,画像検査と予防的な抗菌薬投与の施行基準について質問用紙を用いて調査した。結果:診断には7施設がカテーテル尿,4施設がバック尿を主に用いており,単一菌が1x10^5 CFUs/mL 以上検出された場合をfUTI と診断している施設が4施設で最多であった。初回のfUTI 後の腹部超音波検査は,ほぼすべての症例に行われていた。初回fUTI 後の排尿時膀胱尿道造影は,8施設が腹部超音波検査で異常がある症例を対象としていたが,膀胱尿管逆流症のリスクファクターとなる,大腸菌以外の起因菌や敗血症症例,治療への反応が不良な症例などの非典型例を対象としていたのは1施設であった。初回fUTI 後の核医学検査は高度膀胱尿管逆流例と腹部超音波に異常がみられる症例を中心に施行されていたが施設により対象は異なっていた。予防的な抗菌薬投与は,高度膀胱尿管逆流症や反復性fUTI 例を対象とする施設が多くみられた。結論:fUTI 後の腹部超音波検査や予防的抗菌薬の投与は,概ねガイドラインに準じて行われていることが分かった。しかし,採尿方法や初回fUTI 後の画像診断の適応基準は施設間で違いがみられ,特に非典型fUTI 症例を対象としていない施設が多いことが判明した。journal articl

Voice Activity Detection Applied to Hands-Free Spoken Dialogue Robot based on Decoding using Acoustic and Language Model
Speech recognition and speech-based dialogue are means for realizing communication between humans and robots. In case of conventional system setup a headset or a directional microphone is used to collect speech with high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). However, the user must wear a microphone or has to approach the system closely for interaction. Therefore it's preferable to develop a hands-free speech recognition system which enables the user to speak to the system from a distant point. To collect speech from distant speakers a microphone array is usually employed. However, the SNR will degrade in a real environment because of the presence of various kinds of background noise besides the user's utterance. This will most often decrease speech recognition performance and no reliable speech dialogue would be possible. Voice Activity Detection (VAD) is a method to detect the user utterance part in the input signal. If VAD fails, all following processing steps including speech recognition and dialogue will not work. Conventional VAD based on amplitude level and zero cross count is difficult to apply to hands-free speech recognition, because speech detection will most often fail due to low SNR. This paper proposes a VAD method based on the acoustic model (AM) for background noise and the speech recognition algorithm applied to hands-free speech recognition. There will always be non-speech segments at the beginning and end of each user utterance. The proposed VAD approach compares the Iikelihood of phoneme and silence segments in the top recognition hypotheses during decoding. We implemented the proposed method for the open-source speech recognition engine Julius. Experimental results for various SNRs conditions show that the proposed method attains a higher VAD accuracy and higher recognition rate than conventional VAD.conference pape

三重県中里貯水池における寒候期の湖面蒸発量
application/pdfEvaporation rates from the water surface in Nakazato Reservoir, Mie Prefecture, Japan, were determined from meteorological parameters of water and air temperatures, air humidity and net radiation in the center of the reservoir from October 1992 to March 1993. Hourly evaporation rates calculated from 1-hour values of meteorological data using Heat Balance Bowen Ratio Method showed sometimes unsteady values when the Bowen Ratio was about -1. No values of daily evaporation rates calculated from daily mean data showed such as unsteady values. Daily evaporation rates during 175 cold days varied from -1.27 mm/day to 8.46 mm/day and the average was 1.80 mm/day. Heat balance analysis of water surface indicated hourly evaporation rates in the reservoir to be influenced strongly by hourly change in heat storage of water more than by net radiation. Long term fluctuation in daily evaporation rates were influenced by change of net radiation rather than heat storage of water. Thus, in Nakazato Reservoir, heat storage of water would appear to affect hourly evaporation rates, and to a lesser extent monthly evaporation rates.三重県北部の中里貯水池で1992年10月8日から1993年
3月31日までの寒候期に湖面蒸発量の観測を行い,熱収
支ボーエン比法による計算値,および蒸発量の時間変化
と長期変化について検討し,次の結果を得た。
1.熱収支ボーエン比法で計算した蒸発量は,時間当
たりのデータから計算した1時間計算値は不安定であっ
たが,データの24時間平均値から計算した日計算値は比
較的安定していた。中里貯水池の寒候期175日間の蒸発
量は,日計算値で-1.27mm/dayから8.46mm/dayの
範囲の値をとり,平均値は1.80mm/day,積算値は315
mmであった。
2.湖面蒸発量の1日の最大量は純放射量の最大値か
ら2時間から3時間遅れて現れ,その熱は湖水の熱量が
使われていた。このことから,蒸発量の1日の時間変化
は水体の貯熱量の変化に強く影響されていることがわ
かった。
3.日計算値から求めた中里貯水池の寒候期の湖面蒸
発量の変化は,冬期に最小値を示す変化型が得られた。
これは純放射量の変化と一致していた。
4.以上の結果から,中里貯水池における水体の貯熱
効果は,湖面蒸発量の1日の時間変化に影響を与える大
きさではあるが,純放射量が減少する冬期に蒸発量を
増加させるほどの大きさではない,と判断された。departmental bulletin pape
