Control of seed layer for a low temperature formation of polycrystalline silicon with high crystallinity and a smooth surface
We have successfully improved the surface roughness and crystalline fraction of polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) films formed on quartz substrates at 300 ℃ by controlling its initial growth. Seed layers were formed by eliminating charged species incident on the substrate during the initial growth in electron cyclotron resonance silane and hydrogen plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition and poly-Si films were subsequently formed on the seed layers with charged species. As a result, control of ion bombardment on the initial growth was found to be a key factor for forming poly-Si films with smooth surfaces and high crystallinity at low temperatures.journal articl

<原著>新生児,乳児期早期の先天性心疾患に対する術前画像診断-特にエコー診断のみの妥当性と限界-
新生児,乳児期早期に開心術をせざるを得ない症例は複雑かつ重症例が多く,このような例には原則として心エコー診断にて適応と術式を決定してきた。今回この方針の妥当性と限界を検討した。'91年~96年に行なった小児開心術111例117回中,60日以内の23例23回を対象とし,手術成績,心エコー診断と実際の病態の相違,心エコー診断のみにて手術を行なったことが直接手術成績ヘ関与した程度を検討した。60日以内症例の手術成績は,薪生児18例中死亡11例,29-60日以内5例中死亡3例で,姑息術8例中死亡7例,根治術15例中死亡7例で死因は多彩,複合的であった。術前心エコー診断が術中所見と相違した例は5例で,うち2例は複雑かつ重症例で,正しく病態診断ができたとしても救命不能であったと考えられた。最終的に心エコー診断に問題があった例は心室中隔欠損症の1例での部位の問題,大血管転位症の2例での冠動脈走行の問題であった。なお心室中隔欠損症についてはその後心エコー診断能が向上し,全例正診している。2力月以上の94回の開心術では全例術前に心臓カテーテル検査,および心血管造影を行なっており,手術死亡,病院死亡ともなかったことから60日以内例でも同様な検査は望ましいが,実際上症例によっては過大侵襲となる可能性は依然として存在している。以上から当面,(1) 心室中隔欠損例ではエコー診断を中心とする,(2) 大血管転位例では可能な限り心臓カテーテル検査および心血管造影を行い,とくに冠動脈の走行を確認する,(3) 複雑心奇形例では当面特殊例を除き,より詳細に心エコー診断を行い,心臓カテーテル検査や心血管造影は最小限に止める方針が妥当と思われた。journal articl

Active Site Profiling identifies molecular features around a protein’s functional site.
<p>(A) In an enzyme structure, key functional residues (black side chains) are identified from sequence and structural analysis. All residues within 10 Å of any key residue (gray spheres) are identified [<a href="http://www.ploscompbiol.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pcbi.1005284#pcbi.1005284.ref035" target="_blank">35</a>,<a href="http://www.ploscompbiol.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pcbi.1005284#pcbi.1005284.ref036" target="_blank">36</a>]. The visualization was created using UCSF Chimera package, version 1.10.2 (B) Residues within the 10 Å spheres are extracted and concatenated to form an active site signature (top). Signatures from a protein family are aligned to create an active site profile (ASP) (bottom). Within the profile, molecular features that are common across the superfamily (blue arrows), as well as features that seem to divide the profile into two distinct groups (red arrows), can be identified. The black line separates the two functional families with Prx5 proteins on top of the line and PrxQ proteins below the line.</p
