Nonlinear development of flow patterns in an annulus with decelerating inner cylinder
Decelerating Taylor vortex flow between two concentric cylinders is investigated by using the time-dependent numerical method. The lengths of the rotating inner cylinder and the stationary outer cylinder are finite. We focus on the mode transitions from well-developed flows during the gradual decrease in the angular velocity of the inner cylinder. In the range of the Reynolds number from 50 to 1000 and the range of the aspect ratio Γ from 2.6 to 7.2, the exchanges of flow pattern from normal secondary modes to primary modes are clarified, and the Reynolds numbers at which the flow modes exchange are determined. The reduction of the number of cells in the flow of the normal mode begins with the weakening of a pair of counter-rotating cells with an inward radial flow at their boundary. An anomalous cell has two extra cells at corners of the end wall and the cylinder walls. In the transient process from the flow of the anomalous mode, extra cells grow and merge into a normal cell, and a saddle point appears in the working fluid. As the merged cell enlarges, the saddle point vanishes and the global normal flow mode appears. The result shows good agreement with experimental observations.journal articl
Investigation about the Continuity of the Sign in a Transit Center (3)
In the public space of the city, the sign is effective as a method to provide the information to users. In this study that we began in 2001, we performed 50 times of investigations in railway stations and the outskirts space. We refer to the space constitution and the space change of the course at three stations (JR Hiroshima Station, JR Okayama Station, JR Kagoshima-Chuo Station) in this article. And we refer to the analysis of signs that there is at those stations. We speak the result that we analyzed as follows. By the place of the station of a streetcar, we understood that the intelligibility of space was different. It is revealed that the signs of three stations were not unified. It will be necessary to think about the space constitution so that people transfers from the railway to the streetcar smoothly. Recovering Transparent Shape from Time-of-Flight Distortion
his paper presents a method for recovering shape and normal of a transparent object from a single viewpoint using a Time-of-Flight (ToF) camera. Our method is built upon the fact that the speed of light varies with the refractive index of the medium and therefore the depth measurement of a transparent object with a ToF camera may be distorted. We show that, from this ToF distortion, the refractive light path can be uniquely determined by estimating a single parameter. We estimate this parameter by introducing a surface normal consistency between the one determined by a light path candidate and the other computed from the corresponding shape. The proposed method is evaluated by both simulation and real-world experiments and shows faithful transparent shape recovery.conference pape

In order to propose a method for predicting extruding pressure under extrusion moulding of cementitious components, mortars with various water content ratios and two kinds of fiber additives were extruded by extruders with different barrel diameters using various kinds of die opening geometries including the alternation of width, thickness and hollow ratio. It was verified that the effective thickness law was available, because the unique relationships between extruding pressure and effective thickness, which meant the transformation grade of mixtures, were obtained. Based on the law and plastic processing one, the comprehensive flow for predicting extruding pressure only through a single shear test was proposed.application/pdfjournal articl

A series of experiments is dealt with in order to examine the determining law for first cracked flexural strength and ductility after cracking, that is ultimate flexural strength and equivalent one, of which parameters are two dimensional with mix proportions and testing span to thickness of componential specimens respectively in the two substantial conditions of using chrysotile and hydrophilically treated polypropylene fibers. The following items are clarified; 1) The law for determining first cracked flexural strength is applicable to the various cases of mix proportions and thickness of components with two kinds of fibers. 2) Ductility is observed in case of treated fibers with dependence on thickness of components.application/pdfjournal articl
