Long-term Deterioration of High Damping Rubber Bridge Bearing

In recent years,high damping rubber(HDR)bridge bearings have become widely used because of the excellent ability to provide high damping as well as flexibility. However, there are few systematic studies on the deterioration problems of HDRs during their service life, and usually the long-term performance was not considered in the design stage. In this research, through accelerated thermal oxidation tests on HDR blocks, the property variations inside the HDR bridge bearing are examined. A deterioration prediction model is developed to estimate the property profiles. Then using a constitutive model and carrying out FEM analysis, the behavior of a HDR bridge bearing during its lifespan is clarified. A design procedure is proposed that takes the long-term performance in the site environment into consideration.journal articl

Nonlinear dynamic response analysis is carried out to investigate the ultimate behavior of upper-deck type steel arch bridges subjected to severe earthquake waves. It is observed from the numerical analysis that the energy absorption of the upper deck reduces the damage in arch ribs. Furthermore, the geometrical nonlinearity has a large effect on the seismic behavior of arch bridges. However, the effect of vertical acceleration is not always significant. As long as the magnitude of the equivalent plastic strain is small, the effect of constitutive models is also small.application/pdfjournal articl

非線形はりモデルを用いた鋼製橋脚の耐震解析における幾何学的非線形性とせん断変形の影響

現行の耐震設計において単柱式鋼製橋脚の終局挙動を解析する際には，せん断変形を無視したBernoulli-Eulerはり理論による幾何学的非線形解析が一般的に行われている。ここでは，Bernouli-Eulerはり理論による解析の妥当性，精度の検討をせん断変形の影響を考慮したTimoshenkoはり理論による幾何学的非線形解析と比較することによって行った。Bernoulli-Eulerはり理論による解析の精度を支配する２つの構造パラメータを同定し，これらのパラメータにより相対差を評価するための算定式を誘導した。これより，鋼製橋脚の耐震解析においては，せん断変形の影響が大きく，背の低い橋脚の耐震設計を行う際にはこの影響を無視できないことがわかった。一方，幾何学的非線形性の影響は，極端に細長比が大きい場合や鉛直荷重が大きい特別の場合を除き，一般的に無視できる。 In the seismic design, the ultimate behavior of steel piers are usually predicted by the nonlinear Bernoulli-Euler beam model where shear deformation is ignored. Here, the validity and accuracy of the Bernoulli-Euler beam model. Then, an equation is derived to estimate the accuracy of this beam model in terms of the two parameters. From this equation, it is shown that the shear deformation has a big influence on the ultimate behavior of steel piers and cannot be ignored for the stocky piers. In contrast to the shear deformation, the geometrical nonlinearity can be normally ignored except for the steel piers with extremely large slenderness ratio and high axial force ratio.application/pdfjournal articl
