An OFDM System with Reduced Non-linear Effect
In this paper, we discuss the realization of reduced peak power transmission for the OFDM systems. Since the signals have large amplitude fluctuations in conventional OFDM systems, signals amplified by a non-linear amplifier are greatly distorted, resulting in severe performance degradation. In order to avoid this large amplitude fluctuation, we propose a scheme for reducing the nonlinear distortion by using the set of the signal point series which show low Peak-to-Mean-Envelope-Power-Ratio (PMEPR) value. In this system, one symbol is transmitted with multicarriers and the received signal is detected with maximum likelihood sequence (MLS) detection.journal articl
Trunk muscles activity during forward arm reach in normal children
The aim of this study was to investigate trunk muscles performance during forward arm reach in normal children. Subjects were 10 normal pre-school children (6 boys and 4 girls : ages ranged from 3 years 5 months to 6years 1 month). Subjects sat on the box that was adjusted so that hips and knees were flexed to 90 degrees, and the feet contacted the floor, We measured integrated electromyography (Ⅰ-EMG) of rectus abdominis and the trunk extensor muscles during the subject's performance of two types of reaching movements (reaching by right hand, and reaching by both arms), and reach distance. The results show that the mean distance of the right arm was 28.57 cm (±SD 7.32) , and that of both arms was 28.81 cm (±SD 7.05). There was no significant difference between the reach distance by right arm and both arms. The I-EMG of right rectus abdominis was greater than left (p<0.05). There was a significant correlation between the I-EMG of trunk extensor muscles and rectus abdominis in both tasks (p<0.05), the I-EMG of trunk extensor muscles between right and left, and the I-EMG of rectus abdominis between right and left in both tasks (p<0.05). The results from this study suggested that the reach movement in the normal pre-school children are provided by forward tilt movement of trunk rather than trunk rotation movement.Article紀要 24: 81-89(1999)departmental bulletin pape
Effect of Intravaginal PRID Insert on Uterine Involution and Conception Rate in Early Postpartum Japanese Black Cows
Effect of progesterone-releasing intra vaginal device (PRID) with estrogen (E2) capsule on postpartum uterine involution and conception rate with timed artificial insemination (TAl) were investigated in Japanese Black Cows. On the day when GnRH-B (GnRH-Buserelin) or PGF2α (Prostaglandin F2α) analog was administered on Day 0 (30 days after parturition), the ratio of cows possessing functional corpus luteum (CL) and plasma progesterone concentrations on Day 7 were significantly increased (P < 0.01) as compared on Day O. From Day 7 to Day 16, PRID was inserted into the vagina of cows. At the time of the PRID removal, PGF2α analog was administered, and E2 at 24 h or GnRH-F (GnRH-Fertirelin) at 48 h after PRID removal was treated, and TAl was performed at 56 h after PRID removal. The conception rate by TAl was increased in the cows that possessing functional CL compared in the cows without CL on Day 7. Also, the uterus significantly involuted with their diameter from 40.5 ± 6.2 mm on Day 0 to 33.4 ± 3.2 mm on Day 28 (P < 0.01), and the viable bacterial count in the external uterine orifice (CFU) showed a tendency to decrease from 2.6 ± 3.5 CFU on Day 0 to 1.0 ± 1.2 CFU on Day 28 (P = 0.63). In conclusion, the activation of folliculogenesis with PRID insertion in early postpartum have promoted the uterine involution, and contributed the increase of the conception rate by TAl.黒毛和種牛において, 分娩後の子宮修復や定時人工授精(定時AI) に対するエストロジェン(E2)カプセルのついたプロジェステロン(P4)徐放剤(PRID)の効果を調べた. その結果, Day 0(分娩後30日)にGnRH-B(酢酸ブセレリン10μg) か, PGF2α(クロプロステノール500μg)を投与すると, Day 7で卵巣に機能的な黄体のある牛が増加し, 血中P4濃度もDay 0 と比較し有意に上昇した(P<0.01). 今回, Day 7からDay 16まで腟内にPRIDを挿入, 抜去時にPGF2αを投与, その後24時間に安息香酸エストラジオール1mgまたは48時間にGnRH-F(酢酸フェルチレリン100μg)を筋肉内投与して, 56時間に定時AIを行った. その結果, 定時AIの受胎率はDay 7に黄体がない牛よりもある牛で高い傾向にあった. また, Day 0からDay 8にかけ, 左右子宮角の長さは有意に短くなり(P<0.01), 同時に外子宮口の細菌数も減少する傾向にあった. 結論として, 分娩後早期からの卵巣賦活とPRID処置は, 子宮修復を促し, 受胎率の向上に寄与することが示された.departmental bulletin pape
Consideration on Effective Head in Cross-Flow Water Turbine
application/pdfIt is necessary to supply air into a runner chamber in a cross-flow turbine installed with draft tube, which is different from any other type of water turbine efficiency changes depending on the supplied air flowrate, and therefore, the efficiency calculation becomes more complicated than that of the other water turbines. As a turbine performance is largely influenced by the behaviour of air volume, it is still difficult to predict overall performance from each component performance. Here we propose an effective head and recirculation loss by which the overall performance of a cross-flow turbine can be predicted for various operating conditions.
