Electrical and thermal characteristics of Bi2212/Ag HTS coils for conduction-cooled SMES

In this paper, we investigated the electrical and thermal performance of conduction-cooled Bi2212/Ag HTS coils with 4K-GM cryocooler system. First, we measured the critical current Ic for different ambient temperatures T_0 at 4.2K-40K. Experimental results revealed that I_c increased with the decrease in T_0 and was saturated at T_0 < 10K. We carried out thermal analysis considering heat generation, conduction and transfer under conduction-cooling condition, and reproduced the electrical and thermal characteristics of the conduction-cooled HTS coil, taking account of temperature dependence of specific heat and thermal conductivity of the materials. We also measured the temperature rise of Bi2212/Ag HTS coil for different continuous current levels at T_0=4.8K. Experimental results revealed the criterion of thermal runaway, which was discussed in terms of heat genaration and propagation in the test coil.journal articl

Impedance analysis of PLD LiNi₀.₈Co₀.₂O₂ film electrode

application/pdfThe kinetics of intercalation are discussed using a pulsed laser deposition (PLD) film electrode and electrochemical impedance analysis. Films of LiNi₀.₈Co₀.₂O₂, deposited on single crystal substrates, were used for the study. The films have intercalative or blocking orientations on different crystal surfaces of the substrates. Impedance spectra show that there are at least three elemental processes in intercalation. Two processes at higher frequencies suggest that they occur at the electrode surface and are influenced by the orientation of the film. The third process appearing at low frequencies below 1 Hz indicates lithium motion in the bulk structure and shows the largest resistance among the three processes. This lithium conduction in a thin PLD film shows a semicircular response and is considered to be influenced more by the structure due to the nanometer-scale thickness.ドライプロセスによる高速イオン移動界面の構築と高出力電極への展開journal articl
