    Electrical and thermal characteristics of Bi2212/Ag HTS coils for conduction-cooled SMES

    In this paper, we investigated the electrical and thermal performance of conduction-cooled Bi2212/Ag HTS coils with 4K-GM cryocooler system. First, we measured the critical current Ic for different ambient temperatures T_0 at 4.2K-40K. Experimental results revealed that I_c increased with the decrease in T_0 and was saturated at T_0 < 10K. We carried out thermal analysis considering heat generation, conduction and transfer under conduction-cooling condition, and reproduced the electrical and thermal characteristics of the conduction-cooled HTS coil, taking account of temperature dependence of specific heat and thermal conductivity of the materials. We also measured the temperature rise of Bi2212/Ag HTS coil for different continuous current levels at T_0=4.8K.     Electrochemical performances for preferred oriented PLD thin-film electrodes of LiNi₀.₈Co₀.₂O₂, LiFePO₄ and LiMn₂O₄

    application/pdfThe charge-discharge performances for lithium ion batteries using the PLD thin-film cathodes of LiNi₀.₈Co₀.₂O₂, LiFePO₄ and LiMn₂O₄ were investigated. LiMn₂O₄ and LiFePO₄, which have a 3-D frame work crystal structure, showed smooth charging and discharging. On the contrary, LiNi₀.₈Co₀.₂O₂, which consists of a 2-D layered crystal structure, exhibited a poor discharge capacity. The differences in electro-chemical behaviors might be related to characteristics of PLD thin-film such as high crystallinity or high degree of preferred orientation. Furthermore, the surface roughness and film thickness of LiMn₂O₄ thin film were varied by using SPT and PLD method, and their structures were clarified by XRD and SEM. The SPT method gave the film with rough and large surface area, while the PLD method provided a flat and high crystalline film. Their rate performances of charge and discharge were independent of the deposition method but depended on the film thickness. Optimum performance was obtained with the PLD film deposited for 30 min., which showed almost the same shape of the discharge curve between 36 C and 720 C.Article in pressドライプロセスによる高速イオン移動界面の構築と高出力電極への展開journal articl

    Synthesis of N-linked glycan derived from Gram-negative bacterium, Campylobacter jejuni clusters

    [著者版]Recent research has revealed the presence of asparagine (Asn)-linked (N-linked) glycoproteins in certain prokaryotes. In this paper, we describe the chemical synthesis of a novel N-glycan derived from Campylobacter jejuni, a heptasaccharide composed of Asn-linked bacillosamine (Bac), repeating GalNAc, and branching Glc, namely GalNAc-alpha(1,4)-GalNAc-alpha(1,4)-[Glc-beta(1,3)-] GalNAc-alpha(1,4)-GalNAc-alpha(1,4)-GalNAc-alpha(1,3)-Bac. The synthesis started from a Bac-acceptor, which was consecutively glycosylated with 4-O-pentafluoropropionyl (PFP) protected donors to give heptasaccharide.     術後9年目に多発性肺転移をきたしたAnaplastic Ependymomaの1例

    A case of intracranial anaplastic ependymoma with extracranial metastasis was reported. A 30-years old woman was referred to our hospital for further examination of chest roentgenogram abnormality. She has a past-history of intracranial tumor. Curative operation and radiotherapy (50Gy) had been performed. No relapse of the intracranial tumor was found with annual CT and MRI examination. On admission, 9years after the operation, chest roentgenogram and computed tomography showed multiple tumor lesions on both lungs. Since the pathological findings of the lung specimen were very close to these of the intracranial primary tumor, the lung lesions was diagnosed as extracranial metastasis of anaplastic ependymoma of the brain. Extracranial metastasis of brain tumor is extremely rare. Furthermore, in our case, it is interesting that the late onset of extracranial metastasis in the lung appeared without any relapse of the intracranial primary tumor.journal articl
