An Attempt to Help Japanese EFL Student Writers Make the Transition from the Knowledge-Telling Model to the Knowledge-Transforming Model of Writing
The paper argues that more attention should be paid to the effective use of written English in Japan, where English is taught as EFL. The paper then notes that some of the problems found in descriptive and argumentative compositions by Japanese college EFL students originate from their over-reliance on the knowledge- telling style of writing, in which pieces of information are written down without any overall structure. To solve these problems, a facilitative instructional method is offered to help the students to make the transition from the knowledge- telling mode to the knowledge transforming mode of writing. The paper concludes by emphasizing the importance of reconsidering the ways of teaching effective communication in English in Japan.departmental bulletin pape
Biochemical characterization of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate synthetase
Mycobacterium tuberculosis arabinogalactan (AG) is an essential cell wall component. It
provides a molecular framework serving to connect peptidoglycan to the outer mycolic
acid layer. The biosynthesis of the arabinan domains of AG and lipoarabinomannan
(LAM), occurs via a combination of membrane bound arabinofuranosyltransferases, all
of which utilise decaprenol-1-monophosphorabinose as a substrate (DPA). The source of
arabinose ultimately destined for deposition into cell wall AG or LAM, originates
exclusively from phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate (pRpp), a central metabolite which is
also required for other essential metabolic processes, such as de novo purine and
pyrimidne biosynthesis. In M. tuberculosis, a single pRpp synthetase enzyme (Mt-PrsA)
is soley responsible for the generation of pRpp, by catalysing the transfer of
pyrophosphate from ATP to the C1 hydroxyl position of ribose-5-phosphate. Here, we
report a detailed biochemical and biophysical study of Mt-PrsA, which exhibits the most
rapid enzyme kinetics reported for a pRpp synthetase
Effect of Redevelopment Around the Station in Local Cities
This aims pays attention the effect of the redevelopment around the station in local cities. Furthermore, the proposal for the case of the Kumamoto is done. For analysis, 3 stations are selected optionally with Kumamoto Station to compare prospective; “Project Schedule”, “Map”, and “Relative graph of the land price”. From this analysis of 3 stations, the considerations to schedule the redevelopment plan and the relationship between the peripheries of the stations and the central cities are arranged. As a conclusion, it is proposed the redevelopment plan around the Kumamoto Station.conference pape
