Wastewater use in India: the impact of irrigation weirs on water quality and farmer health

    Get PDF
Water quality in the wastewater polluted Musi River, India was assessed in a 14 month survey, while the impact of exposure to polluted river water was assessed in an epidemiological study. The water quality survey found very high intestinal nematode and BOD concentrations in Musi water in the city of Hyderabad. Water quality improved dramatically downstream of the city as a result of irrigation weirs that were placed on the river and which promoted sedimentation. River water, at two of the selected sample points, was found to be unfit for use in agriculture based on WHO guidelines. Hookworm infection was found to be the main health risk associated with the use of polluted Musi water and a significantly increased risk of infection was found in farmers using untreated wastewater. In the absence of wastewater treatment facilities, regular anthelmintic treatment programs are recommended to protect farmer health

Cyber risk assessment in cloud provider environments: Current models and future needs

    Get PDF
Traditional frameworks for risk assessment do not work well for cloud computing. While recent work has often focussed on the risks faced by firms adopting or selecting cloud services, there has been little research on how cloud providers might assess their own services. In this paper, we use an in-depth review of the extant literature to highlight the weaknesses of traditional risk assessment frameworks for this task. Using examples, we then describe a new risk assessment model (CSCCRA) and compare this against three established approaches. For each approach, we consider its goals, the risk assessment process, decisions, the scope of the assessment and the way in which risk is conceptualised. This evaluation points to the need for dynamic models specifically designed to evaluate cloud risk. Our suggestions for future research are aimed at improving the identification, assessment, and mitigation of inter-dependent cloud risks inherent in a defined supply chain

(1) A total of 13 new species and 2 new varieties of powdery mildew fungi were described and published in 11 original papers. (2) Geographic origin, analysis of evolutionary timing using molecular clock and evolution of morphology of powdery mildew fungi were discussed in review articles. In addition, comprehensive phylogenetic analyses go the genera Erysiphe and Golovinomyces were conducted to reveal the phylogenetic relationships of species of these genera. (3) Biodiversity of powdery mildew fungi was investigated with collaborators in Asian countries like China, Korea, India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Iran.2011年度~2014年度科学研究費補助金(基盤研究(C))研究成果報告書23580061research repor
