A first measurement of the interaction cross section of the tau neutrino
The DONuT experiment collected data in 1997 and published first results in
2000 based on four observed charged-current (CC) interactions. The
final analysis of the data collected in the experiment is presented in this
paper, based on protons on target using the 800 GeV
Tevatron beam at Fermilab. The number of observed CC interactions is
9, from a total of 578 observed neutrino interactions. We calculated the
energy-independent part of the tau-neutrino CC cross section (), relative to the well-known and cross sections. The
ratio / was found to be
. The CC cross section was found to be cm. Both results are in
agreement the Standard Model.Comment: 37 pages, 15 figure

Coating process of a vehicle takes a lot of time and very inefficiency. Because, it needs to coat with some paints and to print by burning on each paint in the process. Hence, It is demanded shorter lead time now. One of the solutions is printing some paints at a time. If It is possible to measure viscousness of each coating layer, the proposal will be realized. In this report, We tried to measure viscousness of stratified paints. As the result, a new measuring method using laser trapping was developed.textapplication/pdfdepartmental bulletin pape
Operation Characteristics of Desiccant Air Conditioning System
Co-generation system is one of the effective methods to solve the global warming and energy problem. Effective utilization of heat energy plays an essential roll to introduce electricity-heat cogeneration systems. The authors have proposed to use the low-temperature heat energy in the desiccant air-conditioning system. In particular, in summer season, the excess heat energy can be used for the purpose of dehumidification in green houses by using the desiccant air-conditioning system. On the other hand, the development of the environmental improvement technology in greenhouses are demanded in agricultural sectors. It is expected that desiccant air conditioning system can solve these problems. In this paper, two operation methods of desiccant conditioning system were carried out to set for optimum temperature and optimum relative humidity of various vegetables in the greenhouse. First experiment is "ventilation sysytem", second one is "hybrid sysytem". Experimemtal conditions were large temperature difference and absolute humidity difference between inside and outside the greenhouse. As the result, using the ventilation system, temperature and relative humidity in the greenhouse can not be controlled to optimum conditions. Using the hybrid system, relative humidity in the greenhouse can be controlled to optimum condition. It is confirmed that performance of hybrid system is better than that of ventilation system. However, in hybrid system, further decreasing of absolute humidity is required. In the furture, in this experimental conditions, decreasing of temperature and absolute humidity in the greenhouse are required.departmental bulletin pape

Photosensitivity of the Ni-A state of [NiFe] hydrogenase from Desulfovibrio vulgaris Miyazaki F with visible light
[NiFe] hydrogenase catalyzes reversible oxidation of molecular hydrogen. Its active site is constructed of a hetero dinuclear Ni-Fe complex, and the oxidation state of the Ni ion changes according to the redox state of the enzyme. We found that the Ni-A state (an inactive unready, oxidized state) of [NiFe] hydrogenase from Desulfovibrio vulgaris Miyazaki F (DvMF) is light sensitive and forms a new state (Ni-AL) with irradiation of visible light. The Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) bands at 1956, 2084 and 2094 cm^-1 of the Ni-A state shifted to 1971, 2086 and 2098 cm^-1 in the Ni-AL state. The g-values of gx = 2.30, gy = 2.23 and gz = 2.01 for the signals in the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrum of the Ni-A state at room temperature varied for -0.009, +0.012 and +0.010, respectively, upon light irradiation. The light-induced Ni-AL state converted back immediately to the Ni-A state under dark condition at room temperature. These results show that the coordination structure of the Fe site of the Ni-A state of [NiFe] hydrogenase is perturbed significantly by light irradiation with relatively small coordination change at the Ni site.journal articl
