The Effects of “Japanese Language for Teaching” on Japanese High School Students’ Awareness
This article reports the investigations on how to develop awareness (belief) on Japanese language teaching through a course for Japanese high school students, titled “Japanese language for teaching (Oshieru Nihongo)”. A questionnaire on ‘beliefs’ which consisted of 34 items was carried out to both the students who took the course and the students who did not. The effects of the course were examined by comparing these two groups. The results showed significant differences between these two groups both in the averages of 9 items and in the variances of 9 items, which indicated the positive effects of the course. In addition, students’ written opinions which were taken in every class suggested the development of ‘beliefs’ through the course.departmental bulletin pape

Search for \bar{B}^0 →Λ_c^+\bar{Λ}_c^- decay at Belle
We search for the doubly charmed baryonic decay \bar{B}^0 →Λ_c^+\bar{Λ}_c^-, in a data sample of 520×106 B\bar{B} events accumulated at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider. We find no significant signal and set an upper limit of B(\bar{B}^0 →Λ_c^+\bar{Λ}_c^-)< 6.2×10^{-5} at 90% confidence level. The result is significantly below a naive extrapolation from B(B^-→ Ξ\begin0\c\end\bar{Λ}_c^-) assuming a simple Cabibbo-suppression factor of |V_cd/V_cs|^2. The small branching fraction may be attributed to a suppression due to the large momentum of the baryonic decay products, which has been observed in other charmed baryonic two-body B decays.journal articl
Plots showing the number of non-singleton domains in Astral-95 that hit a member of the same super-family (red line) or different super-family (green line) beneath a threshold -value

The right plot was generated using psi-BLAST (five rounds with Astral-95 embedded in non-redundant protein database), considering -values between 1 and 10
Clustering results on the 507 dataset with our implementation of GeneRAGE (Top Left), hierarchical clustering (Top Right), TribeMCL (Bottom Left) and our Spectral Clustering algorithm (Bottom Right)

Each row in the diagrams corresponds to a different cluster. Short (green) bars represent the assignment of each protein sequence to a cluster. Each protein has one of these bars in only one of the rows (clusters); the presence of the bar means that the protein is assigned to that cluster. Boundaries between super-families are shown by vertical thick (red) lines; boundaries between families within each super-family are shown by dotted (blue) lines. The dataset has 6 super-families, orderly from left to right: Globin-like (88), EF-hand (83), Cupredoxins (78), ()glycosidases (83), Thioredoxin-like (81), Membrane all-alpha (94)
