    AN EVALUATION METHOD FOR LARGE DRIFTING OBJECT-BRIDGE COLLISION DURING TSUNAMI

    During the 2011 Great East.Japan earhquake occurring at the North East pacific region. serious secondary disasters caused by collision of drifting containers or ships occurred in various structures when tsunami came. Drifting objects including large ship and tankers come in and out of ports in Japan. Disaster deterioration caused by drifting objects during earthquake and tsunami has become another problem. ln this study, it is assumed that a large drifting ship colliders with a large-span bridge in the gulf line during a tsunami.To investigate the impact behavior of the bridge during collision, tsunami simullations and nonlinear dynamic finite element analys of the whole bridge during collision are perfurmed. Based on the collision force calculations. an approximate analytical method is proposed. and the maximum size of drifting object which can result in the collapse of the whole bridge structure is calculated using this method

    Determination Method of Tsunami Damage to Storage Tank

    In this paper, the tsunami damage determination method of the storage tank is proposed. The tsunami damage determination was performed combining three-dimensional tsunami analysis and structural analysis. First of all, three-dimmsional tsunami analysis was conducted and the pressure whitch acts on a tank was computed. Next, the structural analysis model whitch can express a tsunami damage situation was created, and the computed wave force was made to act. In addition,the tsunami damage determination was performed from the structural analysis result. From this result, it was possible to confirm the usefulness of the damag determination tsunami of the tank by the proposed method. Finally, it was confirmed that was resisted the tsunami by installing the anchor bolt and the amount of solution in the tank is changed

    Numerical simulation of ground motions and damage of bridge in near field of the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake fault

    This paper investigates the consequences of so called fling-step characteristics of near-field ground motions, which is originated by the permanent ground deformations due to a fault, on the damage of bridge caused by the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake (MJMA 7.3). To simulate ground motions including permanent displacements, the stiffness matrix method is used and the fibre element method is adopted to compute the 3D nonlinear responses of a bridge. It is found from the study that recorded ground motions and the bridge damages can be fmely simulated
