Study of Caustics Created in a Plane with Out-of-Plane Loads

application/pdfCaustics experimental method is applied to a typical three dimensional problem, that is, out-of-plane loading problem to develop the applicational possibility of this method, because we can hardly find some examples of aaplying to three dimensional problem. Thin wide planes without and with a hole are subjected with concentrated or distributed load in some area or along a circular hole edge. The Caustics patterns for each case are obtained and the characteristics about the relationship between loading conditions and created patterns are made clear. Moreover, the creating mechanism of Caustics patterns is investigated analytically by taking the path of the reflecting light ray from the specimen into consideration.departmental bulletin pape
