Modeling and Analysis of a Magnetic Geared Linear Motor

    Get PDF
A special magnetic geared tubular linear mo-tor which combines a tubular magnetic gear and a tubular linear motor for direct-drive applications is presented in this paper. The structure and operating principle of the machine are introduced, then magnetic flux distribution of the gear and thrust force generated by winding coils are simulated by using 2-D modeling. Finite-element calculation is used to confirm the accurate of results.journal articl

Analysis and Experimental Verification of Radial-Gap Two-Degree-of-Freedom Motor Based on a Magnetic Screw Structure

    Get PDF
This article proposes a radial-gap two-degree-of-freedom motor based on a magnetic screw structure. The proposed motor is composed of stator parts, rotor parts, and a mover part, and can generate torque and thrust force simultaneously and independently. Additionally, the motor can generate a large thrust force with the magnetic screw structure. In the proposed motor, the rotor parts and mover part, which act as the nut and screw of ball screws, are coupled with each other by means of magnetic force. Therefore, there is no friction between the rotor parts and mover part. The proposed motor can not only contribute to the minimization of multidegree-of-freedom systems, such as industrial robots but also improve the energy efficiency of robots. This article examines the effectiveness of the proposed motor through analysis and experimental results.journal articl

Using a Nonlinear Disturbance Observer to Estimated the Human Force Applied to a Two-Wheeled Cane for Walking Assistance

    Get PDF
Applying a nonlinear disturbance observer to a two-wheeled cane for walking assistance is proposed in this paper. The hardware design and controller for the two-wheeled cane are also presented. The two-wheeled cane is designed to help users, especially the elderly walk and balance. The design of the two-wheeled cane is based on an inverted pendulum model, and to validate the performance of system multiple simulation and experimental tests were performed with the designed hardware model. The nonlinear disturbance observer presented good results, which were the same as the force sensor measurement signals. The experimental results show that the two-wheeled cane based on the nonlinear disturbance observer is useful to help elderly persons maintain their balance.© 2018 IEEE. Robust-control using model-error-feedback CDOB and DOB under variable-time-delay

    Get PDF
This paper presents the robustness improvement of the Communication-Disturbance-OBserver (CDOB) based on Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional(LKF), and proposes the Network-based-Control-System (NCS) using the LKF based CDOB and a local-side DOB. The CDOB is a compensation method for a output signal includes a communication delay. By using LKF, a steady-state output-estimation-error of the CDOB under variable time-delay and parameter-perturbations is suppressed. However, the latest studies have not shown the robustness to the disturbance-input. In this paper, the frequency- weight of CDOB to the disturbance is introduced to the design of the LKF based CDOB, to suppress the error. From a calculated error-characteristic and a numerical simulation, the account of the weight is validated. Additionally, implementing a disturbance observer in the local (controlled object) side, the robustness of the NCS is improved much in the numerical simulation.journal articl
