Mixing of Pentaquark and Molecular States

There are experimental evidences for the existence of narrow states Θ+\Theta^+ and Θc\Theta_c with the same quantum numbers of uuddsˉuudd\bar s and uuddcˉuudd\bar c pentaquarks and also NK()NK^{(*)} and ND()ND^{(*)} molecular states. Their masses deviate from many theoretical estimates of the pure pentaquark and molecular states. In this work we study the possibility that the observed Θ+\Theta^+ and Θc\Theta_c are mixtures of pure pentaquark and molecular states. The mixing parameters are in general related to non-perturbative QCD which are not calculable at present. We determine them by fitting data from known states and then generalize the mechanism to Θb\Theta_b to predict its mass and width. The mixing mechanism can also naturally explain the narrow width for Θ+\Theta^+ and Θc\Theta_c through destructive interferences, even if the pure pentaquark and molecular states have much larger decay widths. We also briefly discuss the properties of the partner eigenstates of Θ+\Theta^+ and Θc\Theta_c and the possibility of experimentally observe them. Moreover, probable consequences of multi-state mixing are also addressed.Comment: 23 pages, 4 figures. Published version in EPJ

Measurement of the LT-asymmetry in \pi^0 electroproduction at the energy of the \Delta (1232) resonance

The reaction p(e,e'p)pi^0 has been studied at Q^2=0.2 (GeV/c)^2 in the region of W=1232 MeV. From measurements left and right of q, cross section asymmetries \rho_LT have been obtained in forward kinematics \rho_LT(\theta_\pi^0=20deg) = (-11.68 +/- 2.36_stat +/- 2.36_sys)$ and backward kinematics \rho_LT(\theta_\pi^0=160deg) =(12.18 +/- 0.27_stat +/- 0.82_sys). Multipole ratios \Re(S_1+^* M_1+)/|M_1+|^2 and \Re(S_0+^* M_1+)/|M_1+|^2 were determined in the framework of the MAID2003 model. The results are in agreement with older data. The unusally strong negative \Re(S_0+^* M_1+)/|M_1+|^2 required to bring also the result of Kalleicher et al. in accordance with the rest of the data is almost excluded.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures, 4 tables. Network Diffusion of Green Technology in Post-Fukushima Japan

    Get PDF
We study the diffusion of adoptions of green technologies in Japan after the 2011 Fukushima incident. We find that, on average, municipalities within a 120 km radius of a given nuclear power plant adopted green technology at a higher rate than those outside that radius. We then rely on a network diffusion model to analyze the direction, speed, and order in which municipalities adopted said technology. Next, we perform a counterfactual analysis by targeting key spreaders to alter the diffusion process. Finally, we propose a novel targeting method accounting for possible “bottlenecks” preventing the propagation process in the network.working pape
