    The rare decays B --> K(*) anti-K(*) and R-parity violating supersymmetry

    Full text link
    We study the branching ratios, the direct CP asymmetries in BK()Kˉ()B\to K^{(*)}\bar{K}^{(*)} decays and the polarization fractions of BKKˉB\to K^{*}\bar{K}^{*} decays by employing the QCD factorization in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with R-parity violation. We derive the new upper bounds on the relevant R-parity violating couplings from the latest experimental data of BK()Kˉ()B\to K^{(*)}\bar{K}^{(*)}, and some of these constraints are stronger than the existing bounds. Using the constrained parameter spaces, we predict the R-parity violating effects on the other quantities in BK()Kˉ()B\to K^{(*)}\bar{K}^{(*)} decays which have not been measured yet. We find that the R-parity violating effects on the branching ratios and the direct CPCP asymmetries could be large, nevertheless their effects on the longitudinal polarizations of BKKˉB\to K^{*}\bar{K}^{*} decays are small. Near future experiments can test these predictions and shrink the parameter spaces.Comment: 31 pages with 10 figure

    Analysis of the Lambda p Final State Interaction in the Reaction p+p->K^+(Lambda p)

    Full text link
    The missing mass spectrum measured in high resolution studies of the reaction pp -> K^+X is analyzed with respect to the strong final state interaction near the Lambda p production threshold. The observed spectrum can be described by factorizing the reaction amplitude in terms of a production amplitude and a final state scattering amplitude. Parametrizing the Lambda p final state interaction in terms of the inverse Jost function allows a direct extraction of the low-energy phase-equivalent potential parameters. Constraints on the singlet and triplet scattering lengths and effective ranges are deduced in a simultaneous fit of the Lambda p invariant mass spectrum and the total cross section data of the free Lambda p scattering using the effective range approximation.Comment: 9 pages,6 figures, 2 table

    この研究の目的は、術後イレウス発症に関連する要因を調査し、さらに術後イレウス発症予防にかかわる看護の方向性を検討することである。開腹術後にイレウスを発症した58例、延べ65件を対象に面接調査を行った。結果は以下の通りである。イレウス発症には、「過食」「疲労・過労」「便秘」「心配」「冷え」などが影響していた。「疲労・過労」は初めてイレウスを発症した者に多かった。「行事・旅行」は、「疲労」「過食」を伴い、発症につながる可能性が高いと考えられた。半数以上の者に複数の要因が重なっていた。以上から、イレウス発症には、「過食」が最も影響すること、また要因が複雑に絡み合っていることが示唆された。看護のかかわりとしては、適切な時期に、個々の生活背景を考慮した生活指導が必要と考える。The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors related to the onset ofileus in patients who underwent laparotomy and then discharged. In addition, we discussed on the nursing plans to prevent the onset of ileus following laparotomy. The subjects are 58 patients, who experienced 65 episodes of ileus following laparotomy in total. They were interviewed for their postoperative life-styles. The results are as follows: The onset of ileus following laparotomy related with "overeating", "fatigue/overwork", "constipation", "anxiety", "chilliness". The first onset correlated with "fatigue/overwork". As "events/travels" is followed "fatigue" and "over-eating", it is most closely related to ileus. Various factors got complicated in more than halfofepisodes. These findings suggest that "over-eating" is most related to ileus, and thenthe onset ofileus correlates with complex factors. We suppose that recurrence of ileus can be prevented by educating patients in a timely manner about the appropriate behavior following laparotomy.departmental bulletin pape

    Retinal regionalization and heterogeneity of butterfly eyes

    Get PDF
    The regional characteristics of the eyes of butterflies from different families have been surveyed using epi-illumination microscopy, utilizing the eyeshine visible due to the tapetum situated proximally to the rhabdom. All butterflies studied have a high spatial acuity in the frontal region. The facet diameter varies slightly across the eye, and the interommatidial angle and the eye parameter p are especially large dorsally. Whereas the ommatidial lattice is generally highly regular, the eyeshine colours distinctly depend on the species. Sometimes the eyeshine is locally uniform, but often it is heterogeneous. It is hypothesized that the regional characteristics as well as the local heterogeneity are adaptations that optimize spectral discrimination
