2011-08Free fetal DNA (ffDNA) in maternal plasma has now become a valuable source for noninvasive prenatal diagnosis. Being able to accurately identify the size of ffDNA in maternal plasma is essential for a noninvasive prenatal diagnosis. Furthermore, it is important to investigate the molecular characteristics related to apoptosis which gives rise to ffDNA. We investigated the fragment size of ffDNA in each sample more precisely, using both Y-STR and SRY primers, in 20 maternal plasma samples from the 17th to 39th weeks of gestation. PCR was conducted with Y-STR and SRY primers which can be used to amplify 100–524 bp fragments. In samples from 10 pregnant women carrying male fetuses, the maximum fragment size detected by Y-STR and SRY primers ranged from 219 to 313 bp. As a result, the mean average maximum fragment size of free fetal DNA detected by Y-STR and SRY primers was 286±28 bp. The Y-STR alleles detected in each maternal plasma DNA sample were all in agreement with the results of their cord blood samples. We concluded that the fragment size of ffDNA comprises 2 nucleosomal complexes or less, but not exceeding 3.departmental bulletin pape

Study on propagation loss characteristics considering car antenna position for inter-vehicle communications using 700MHz band at intersection

In the development of the inter-vehicle communication systems for the prevention of car crashes, it is important to know radio propagation characteristics at blind intersections. In field experiments and numerical simulations to investigate radio propagations, a half wavelength dipole antenna is assumed to be the wave source in many cases. However, the directivity of car antenna is changed by effects of car body and antenna positions on car body. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate effects of car antenna positions on radio propagation characteristics at blind intersections. In this paper, propagation loss characteristics considering car antenna position for inter-vehicle communications using 700 MHz band at a blind intersection is investigated. Here, the hybrid method using both the FDTD and ray-tracing methods is used for the electromagnetic analysis.conference pape

application/pdfIn this study, we had investigated the benthic deep-sea fauna using the dredge and beam trawl in the region from the continental shelf to the continental slope of the Sea of Kumano, Mie Prefecture, during the No.1722 research voyage of the training ship Seisui-Maru of Mie University. The survey was carried out at 16 stations covering a depth range of 113-1059 m. The results of the survey, 14 phyla had been confirmed. Arthropod, echinoderm, annelid and molluscan macrobenthos were collected from all of the stations. The phylum number of each station was in the range from 4 to 11. The largest number of phyla had been confi rmed at St.10D of boulders bottom(768-800 m depth). Meiobenthos confi rmed in our sample were kinorhynchs, nematodes, tardigrades, loriciferans and small arthropods such as tanaidaceans, copepods and cumaceans. In addition to free-living species, parasitic copepods, isopods, platyhelminthes, acanthocephalans and nematodes had been found in fish, crustaceans and polychaetes.departmental bulletin pape
