The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference of the longitudinal method and the cross-sectional method in the student's image of a nurse. The subjects were 89 nursing students in the longitudinal method and 278 nursing students in the cross-sectional method. The questionnaire investigations were carried out in November,1998-November,2000. The results indicated as follows: 1)Results were similar using both the longitudinal and the cross-sectional study methods. 2)This study reveals a significant increase in the students' positive image of a nurse was seen in the factors of "intelligence" and "occupational attractive". 3)This change depending on the students' experiences in their school curriculum. 4)As the longitudinal method reflects the cohort fhctors, the methodis useful for understanding the characteristics of a grade means.departmental bulletin pape
A retrospective, multicentre study of perampanel given as monotherapy in routine clinical care in people with epilepsy
PURPOSE: Perampanel is approved for adjunctive treatment of focal seizures, with or without secondarily generalised seizures, and for primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures in people with epilepsy aged ≥12 years. Perampanel was recently approved for monotherapy use for partial seizures in the United States. This study provides insight into the feasibility of perampanel monotherapy in real-world settings. METHODS: This retrospective, non-interventional, multicentre study (NCT02736162) was conducted between January 2013 and March 2016 in specialist epilepsy centres in Europe and Russia. Eligible individuals had a diagnosis of epilepsy and received perampanel primary or secondary monotherapy as routine clinical care. The primary endpoint was proportion of individuals remaining on perampanel monotherapy, after conversion from perampanel adjunctive treatment, at 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months (retention rate). RESULTS: Sixty individuals were in the safety set (female, 63%; white, 97%; aged 18 to <65 years, 73%). Most (85%) received secondary monotherapy with perampanel. At study cut-off, 68% of individuals were continuing on perampanel monotherapy (secondary monotherapy: 55%). The median duration of retention was not calculable due to the high number of individuals ongoing on monotherapy. Twelve individuals had treatment-emergent adverse events that started during perampanel monotherapy, the most frequent was dizziness (5%). One serious treatment-emergent adverse event was reported (pneumonia during adjunctive perampanel treatment). CONCLUSIONS: In this small retrospective study of individuals who received perampanel monotherapy, the majority maintained monotherapy. Perampanel monotherapy may be an achievable option in some people with epilepsy

日本語の諺の英語へのパラフレーズ(4)
applicationProverbs are good materials for paraphrasing. And they are easier to understand when paraphrased. So I have paraphrased more of them as a third continuation of my column in Memmoirs of Nagano National College of Technology No.32, pp.71-76. To explain each proverb thoroughly, I have formed a system which has three phases such as the last time. They are as follows. 1. The original proverb and its literal translation with some background information 2. A paraphrase of each proverb and amplification of its meaning 3. Remarks on its teaching or admonishment Using the above system, I have given the English interpretation of Japanese proverbs and their meaning as it relates to the English speaking world. I believe this system will open the door to using Japanese proverbs both for communication and for teaching life values.departmental bulletin pape
Attitude Survey toward Artificial Intelligence in Medicine among Japanese Medical Students
Objective: Medical schools all over the world need to include artificial intelligence (AI) as part of the medical education curriculum. This study aimed to assess first- and final-year Japanese medical students’ attitudes toward the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine.
Methods: We conducted a web-based questionnaire survey regarding attitudes toward the use of AI in medicine on first- and final-year Japanese medical students. Responses were rated on a five-point Likert scale, from 5 = Strongly agree to 1 = Strongly disagree.
Results: In total, 112 of 116 first-year and 101 of 124 final-year medical students responded to the survey (response rate: first-year students, 96.6 %, final-year students, 81.5 %). Both first- and final-year students expressed significantly positive attitudes toward the application of AI to imaging diagnosis. Regarding the theme of ‘AI and medical education’, final-year students showed significantly negative attitudes toward the use of AI for medical education compared with first-year students for lecture, clinical clerkship, administering exams (P < 0.05, each) but showed positive attitudes for learning mentor (P < 0.05).
Conclusion: Our results indicate that final-year medical students in Japan prefer human-based medical education more than do first-year students. We should construct AI curriculum based on these attitudes in medical students.departmental bulletin pape
Traditional healthful fermented products of Japan
application/pdfA variety of fermentation products, such as foods containing probiotic bacteria, black
rice vinegar (kurosu), soy sauce (shoyu), soybean-barley paste (miso), natto and tempeh,
are sold in food stores in Japan. These fermented food products are produced by
traditional methods that exploit mixed cultures of various non-toxic microorganisms.
These microorganisms include lactic acid bacteria, acetic acid bacteria, sake yeast, koji
molds and natto bacteria. Many traditional fermented foods have been studied and their
effects on metabolism and/or immune system have been demonstrated in animal and/or
human cells. This review summarizes the scientific basis for the effects of these
traditional food products, which are currently produced commercially in Japan.journal articl
