International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI), a Philippine port operator, operates in 18 countries around the world. As a latecomer to internationalization and a relatively small company, ICTSI has been promoting multinationalization, mainly targeting small and medium-sized markets. The company's competitive advantage lies in its ability to adapt to countries with an underdeveloped investment environment. The company's case study provides useful information for examining the multinationalization strategies of ASEAN companies.departmental bulletin pape
Adsorption Properties of Au(III) and Cu(II) from Aqueous Solution Using Chemically Treated Sheep Wool
Au(III) and Cu(II) adsorption from aqueous solution were carried out using sheep wools with chemical treatments, by NaOH, Na2S, NaHSO3, and NaBH4 aqueous solution. The fibrous wool was transformed into a film like structures after the chemical treatment using Na2S. The sheep wool and the chemically treated sheep wool adsorbed selectively Au(III) from Au-Cu binary aqueous solution and the presence of copper ion had no effect on the Au(III) adsorption. Au(III) adsorbed substantially at low pH range. The kinetic experimental data fitted well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the adsorption amount of Au(III) increased with time and reached a plateau after 12 h. The kinetic analysis suggests that rate determining step of Au adsorption would be chemisorption due to the formation of a monolayer on the wool surface. Sheep wool is a low cost, eco-friendly material, and has a high capacity of adsorption, and could be used as a biosorbent for precious and heavy metals by modification of appropriate chemical treatment.conference pape

Characterization of Mongolian Natural Minerals and Their Application for Heavy Metal Adsorbent
In this study, the structural characteristic and the adsorption properties of heavy metals on Mongolian natural minerals were investigated. The natural samples were confirmed as Heulandite group of Clinoptilolite type zeolite and clay sample that contains albite and quartz by X-ray diffraction analysis. According to BET surface analysis, natural zeolites have mesoporous type of pore. The results of adsorption study showed that adsorption ability of natural zeolite is high effective for lead ion in acidic aqueous solution and the order of heavy metal selectivity was Pb2+>>Zn2+>Cd2+. The adsorption performance of Arsenic(V) is significantly increased by modification with magnesium oxide on natural zeolite
Analysis of Interfacial Adsorption Equilibrium and Reaction Rate of Phosphorous Acid with Tri-n-octylamine in Toluene
In order to clarify the extraction mechanism of phosphorous acid with tri-n-octylamine from a spent electroless nickel-plating bath, the interfacial adsorption equilibrium of the chemical species relating to the extraction and the interfacial reaction rate of phosphorous acid in the aqueous solution with tri-n-octylamine in toluene was investigated at 303K. The interfacial tensions between the aqueous and organic phases, containing various concentrations of phosphorous acid and TOA, were measured and analyzed by the Langmuir and Gibbユs adsorption isotherms. The interfacial adsorption constants and the interfacial area occupied by TOA and its complex with phosphorous acid were determined. The initial extraction rate of phosphorous acid with TOA in toluene was measured using a Lewis-type transfer cell. The experimental results were analyzed based on an interfacial reaction model in which the reaction proceeds by successive reactions between TOA and the extraction complexes adsorbed at the interface and the undissociated phosphorous acid in the aqueous solution. The extraction rate in the initial stage of the extraction is interpreted by the rate equation in which the release step of the A'B complex species from the interface is the rate-determining step. The reaction rate constant and the equilibrium constant for the each reaction step were determined
