A study on participation in public education overcoming the deprivation of opportunity and motivation for participation : neoliberal educational reform and its counters

This paper argues that self-governance efforts to return decision-making about public education from the chiefs to the general public. This movement is considered as an alternative to the neoliberal educational re-forms that have been criticized for depriving parents and locals from decision making process. But contrary to their intentions, their effort might lead similar outcome to the neoliberal educational reforms, and have, in turn, deprived most people from their decision-making authority. First, while this paper shares the view that many people are socially and economically impoverished and deprived of the desire and opportunity to participate, it critically examines the failure (or dare not) to offer an alternative to the argument that parents and community members have replaced their unwillingness to participate in schools with the theory of personal responsibility. This paper examines this issue in a critical manner. In contrast, this paper suggests the possibility of participation as a counterbalance to neoliberalism, focusing not on “who makes the decisions” but on “how the views can be reflected” of those whose willingness to participate in public education has been socially and economically deprived.本論は，選択と競争により格差を増長し，地域住民や保護者の自己統治の機会を奪ってきたと批判される首長主導の新自由主義的教育改革のオルタナティブとして考えられている，公教育に関する意思決定を首長から一般市民に取り戻そうとする自己統治の取り組みが，その意に反して新自由主義教育改革と同様の独善的意思決定をもたらしていることを批判的に捉える。そしてそうした新自由主義の対抗軸もまた，決定権限の奪い合いに終始するのみで逆に一般市民の支持を失うばかりか，多くの人々の参加への意欲をますます奪い自己責任論を強化してしまうという事態を招きかねないことを明らかとする。 まず，本論では多くの人々が社会的・経済的に困窮し，参加への意欲と機会を奪われているという見解を共有しながらも，保護者や地域住民が学校に参加する意欲がないことを自己責任論に置き換えた主張に対して代替案を提示できなかった（あるいはあえて提示しなかった）ことを批判的に検討する。対して，本論では，新自由主義の対抗軸として，「誰が意思決定を下すのか」ではなく，これまで公教育への参加の意欲が社会的・経済的によって奪われた状態にある人々の「意見をどのように反映させることができるのか」に焦点を置いた参加の可能性を示唆するものである。原著論文departmental bulletin pape

A study of loss of “Honor” as a disincentive to school participation : focusing on white conservatives in Hall County, Georgia

In previous studies, equity in school participation was thought to be achieved through the inclusion of socially deprived minorities such as African Americans and women in schools. In recent years, however, the problem has been the exit from participation of those who have been in the mainstream of society and have been at the core of participation. This study will clarify the current situation of attempting to exit from the education of children of their own or their communities through observation in a community predominantly white conservative in the United States. This paper will first show that the apparent abandonment of mainstream white conservatives in the Southern U.S. to engage their own or their community is not, as many believe, due to a lack of decision-making capacity, delegating everything to populist leaders. This paper then argues that the cause of the white conservative exodus is simply the result of the deprivation of their “honor”. This paper further argues that inadvertently asking those deprived of honor to participate in the school of their communities is not only counterproductive but increasingly legitimizes their disengagement.これまで学校参加の公平性を考える上で問題となっていたのは，黒人，女性などこれまで社会参加を疎外されてきたマイノリティをいかに学校に取り込むかということであった。 しかし，近年これまで社会のメインストリームにいて参加の中核を担ってきた層の参加からの退出が問題となってきている。本研究は，社会のメインストリームにいる人々が，自らの子どもあるいは自分たちの地域の子どもの教育から退出しようとする現状と問題点を，米国南部の白人保守層が多数を占める地域での視察を通じて明らかにしていく。 本論ではまず，米国南部においてメインストリームにいた白人保守層が公共の場において自分たちあるいは地域の子どもにかかわることを一見放棄してしまっているという現象は，多くの人が考えているように南部白人保守層の意思決定に関わる能力が欠如し，ポピュリスト的な首長にすべてを放棄した結果によるものではないことを明らかにする。そして白人保守層の退出の原因は，単純に「名誉」が奪われた結果であるということを論じる。そしてさらに本研究では，名誉が奪われた人々に対して，いたずらに自分達の子どもや地域の学校教育への参加を求めることは，むしろ逆効果であるばかりか，そうした人々が参加をしなくなることをますます正当化してしまうことを主張する。原著論文departmental bulletin pape

A case of mucoepidermoid carcinoma arising in mature cystic teratoma

卵巣粘表皮癌は卵巣悪性腫瘍の中で極めてまれな組織型に分類される。今回、我々は成熟嚢胞性奇形種より発生した卵巣粘表皮癌の症例を経験したので報告する。症例は、69歳、女性、両側の成熟嚢胞性奇形腫を認めたが、SCC高値とCT、MRI にて左側の腫瘍内に造影される充実性部分を認めたこと、小腸に浸潤を疑う所見を認めたこと、から悪性転化を疑い、手術を施行した。開腹時、両側卵巣腫瘍を認め、左卵巣腫瘍はS状結腸と強固に癒着していた。卵巣腫瘍充実性部分の迅速病理にて低分化癌と診断し、単純子宮全摘出術、両側付属器摘出術、S状結腸合併切除、骨盤リンパ節郭清術、大網切除術を施行した。病理組織学的には、左卵巣腫瘍の嚢胞壁肥厚部に皮膚付属器、脂肪織、軟骨組織、リンパ球集簇、卵巣間質を認め、充実成分に低分化な浸潤性扁平上皮癌を認めた。充実成分には、粘表皮癌に特徴的な、豊富な胞体粘液（PASおよびAlcian blue 染色陽性）を有する異型細胞が胞巣状～不完全な腺管状を呈する領域があり、成熟嚢胞性奇形腫より発生した卵巣粘表皮癌IIb期（pT2bN0M0）と診断した。術後補助化学療法としてDC（ドセタキセル、カルボプラチン）療法を施行し、術後1年8ヶ月現在、再発を認めない。journal articl
