    Investigation of saliva effect on intestinal immune response based on intestinal flora analysis

    研究成果の概要(和文):本研究では、大唾液腺(顎下腺・舌下腺・耳下腺)摘出マウスを用いて、腸管粘膜の組織学的変化、腸管免疫応答関連因子の発現、腸内細菌叢を経時的に検証した。研究期間中、体重の変化は有意な差は認められなかったが、唾液分泌量は、3群の全てで経時的に増加はしたものの、唾液腺摘出群では有意に分泌量が少なく、増加率も低かった。腸管の組織学的変化としては、術後1か月目に唾液腺摘出群では空腸絨毛ならびに回腸絨毛が有意に短縮し、術後6か月目にもあまり回復は認められなかった。菌叢解析の結果、術後6か月目のシャムオペ群では有意にα多様性が高かった。またβ多様性は、3か月目では摘出群が、6か月目ではシャムオペ群が高かった。研究成果の概要(英文):This study examined histological changes in the intestinal mucosa, expression level of factors related to intestinal immune response, and intestinal microbiome using mice with sialoadenectomy (submandibular, sublingual, and parotid glands). There was no significant difference in body weight changes during the experimental. However, the volume of saliva secretion in sialoadenectomy group was significantly decreased and depending time increase was also significantly suppressed. In addition, histopathological changes were observed in the villi of jejunum and ileum with significantly shortness in sialoadenectomy group one month after surgical treatment. They did not recover in the sixth postoperative month. The results of gut microbiome analysis showed that alpha diversity was significantly higher in the sham-operated group at six months postoperatively.     Subaru Imaging of Asymmetric Features in a Transitional Disk in Upper Scorpius

    We report high-resolution (0.07 arcsec) near-infrared polarized intensity images of the circumstellar disk around the star 2MASS J16042165-2130284 obtained with HiCIAO mounted on the Subaru 8.2 m telescope. We present our HH-band data, which clearly exhibits a resolved, face-on disk with a large inner hole for the first time at infrared wavelengths. We detect the centrosymmetric polarization pattern in the circumstellar material as has been observed in other disks. Elliptical fitting gives the semimajor axis, semiminor axis, and position angle (P.A.) of the disk as 63 AU, 62 AU, and -14 ^{\circ}, respectively. The disk is asymmetric, with one dip located at P.A.s of 85\sim85^{\circ}. Our observed disk size agrees well with a previous study of dust and CO emission at submillimeter wavelength with Submillimeter Array. Hence, the near-infrared light is interpreted as scattered light reflected from the inner edge of the disk. Our observations also detect an elongated arc (50 AU) extending over the disk inner hole. It emanates at the inner edge of the western side of the disk, extending inward first, then curving to the northeast. We discuss the possibility that the inner hole, the dip, and the arc that we have observed may be related to the existence of unseen bodies within the disk.Comment: 21 pages, 3 figures, published 2012 November 7 by ApJL, typo correcte

    An Experimental Project on Student's Autonomous Learning

    This paper describes a one-term experiment conducted in the first author’s English class for post-graduate students from Feb. 2004 to June 2004. The project was intended to encourage student autonomy, and to train students on how to acquire various skills in language learning and communication. The project provided students with enough room to exert their autonomy and they attained its desired goals. The beneficial effects can be seen in three ways: The center of the class shifts from the teacher to the students; students can learn more effectively if they are given an autonomous learning environment; and students can acquire all round abilities if they adopt a positive attitude towards learning.departmental bulletin pape
