Current topics in women's rights and equality within an English-medium university program for international cooperation

Gender-related topics are becoming increasingly popular in university courses in Japan, including those in English-medium content programs. This is at least in part due to the urgent need for gender equality in many areas of Japanese society such as political representation and labor rights protection. In this working paper, I introduce topics included in an interdisciplinary university program which prepares students for future careers in international cooperation. Students learn about various issues which are important for their future success in global contexts, and for this it is indispensable to discuss gender-related topics such as women's rights, LGBT issues, reproductive health, equal access to education, and more. Such innovative learning opportunities are a small but significant step forward for gender awareness and equality in Japan as well as for Japan's status in the international community. Educational practice of making wooden toys using local timber in Chikuho area －Attempts in nursery teacher training course－

令和3年3月に飯塚農林事務所より、本学こどもコースの学生を対象に、木材を教材として活用する地域連携事業を実施したいとの依頼があった。造形の授業で活用するにあたって、十分な量の杉や檜の木材の提供を受けることが出来たため、令和3年度後期に、木材を用いた教育実践に取り組んだ。 　保育者養成教育の造形関連科目における実践研究では、描画などの2次元の表現でも、粘土などを用いた3次元の表現であっても、紙や廃材、葉っぱや土などの可塑性がある造形材料を用いた研究が主流である。そのため、本研究で取り上げる木材のような可塑性の無い造形材料を取り扱った研究は、未だ少ないのが現状である。 　そこで、本研究では、本学こどもコース1年次生を対象として木製玩具製作の教育実践を行い、木材の特性を生かした作品製作の有用性について考察した。その結果、学生は本実践への取り組みを通して、素材そのものが持つ可塑性の有無に目を向けるようになっていった。特に、立体造形におけるカービング（素材を切る・削る）技法を体験するうえで、木材の活用は極めて有用であるということを確認することが出来た。また、製作過程では木材の手触り（触覚）や匂い（嗅覚）などの感覚を通した体験も得ており、身近な自然物に目を向け、保育に生かす契機となり得ることも確認することが出来た。othe

Examination of Metaphors in the Tempest and its Historical Image－Between a Fiction and Historical Facts as its Source Material－

沖縄出身の作家・池上永一が琉球史に題材を求めた小説「テンペスト」を取りあげ、小説が描き出した歴史像や比喩から作品を論じた。作品がフィクションであることを踏まえて、史実の素材としての活用や史実を離れた創作の度合いを検討しながら、作者の意図や歴史観などを分析している。そして、作品の社会的な意味を考えた。departmental bulletin pape

低炭素鋼の機械的性質と組織に及ぼす浸炭硬化処理の影響

applicationThe low carbon steels (S15CK) were carburized by pack carburizing, and then these steels were heat-treated for primary quenching and secondary quenching. The transformation of the mechanical properties and the microstructures with varing carburized depth and hardening processes were investigated. The strength properties were improved with increasing caburized depth, but the elongation and the reduction of area were decreased markedly as quenched into water and oil in secondary quenching. In the carburizing of 5 hours the maximum hardness of the case was seven times the hardness of material as quenched into water in secondary quenching. In the test piece for tensile test quenched into water and oil as secondary quenching the quasi-cleavage fracture was observed.departmental bulletin pape
