Bonded Composite Repairs of Aluminum Alloy 2024T3 Cracked Plates
In this study, the behavior of repaired cracks, located in aluminum alloy sheets 2024T3, with bonded composite patch is analyzed experimentally and numerically. The experimental study has been conducted through fatigue tests on aluminum cracked plate repaired with Carbon/epoxy patch. In the numerical analysis, the stress intensity factor at the crack front is computed using three-dimensional finite element method. The obtained results show that the stress intensity factor at the crack front is highly reduced by the presence of the patch repair. Therefore, the fatigue life of the damaged structure can be significantly improved especially if the patch repair is applied at small crack lengths.</jats:p
A tripe diffusion bioconvective model for thixotropic nanofluid with applications of induced magnetic field
Abstract Owing to enhanced thermal characteristics of nanomaterials, multidisciplinary applications of such particles have been utilized in the industrial and engineering processes, chemical systems, solar energy, extrusion processes, nuclear systems etc. The aim of current work is to suggests the thermal performances of thixotropic nanofluid with interaction of magnetic force. The suspension of microorganisms in thixotropic nanofluid is assumed. The investigation is further supported with the triple diffusion flow. The motivations for considering the triple diffusion phenomenon are associated to attaining more thermal applications. The flow pattern is subject to novel stagnation point flow. The convective thermal constraints are incorporated. The modeled problem is numerically evaluated by using shooting technique. Different consequences of physical parameters involving the problem are graphically attributed. The insight analysis is presented for proposed problem with different engineering applications. It is claimed that induced magnetic field enhanced due to magnetic parameter while declining results are observed for thixotropic parameter. The heat transfer enhances due to variation of Dufour number. Furthermore, low profile of nanoparticles concentration has been observed for thixotropic parameter and nano-Lewis number

J Integral Computation for Repaired Cracks with Bonded Composite Patch in Aircraft Structures
In this study, the three-dimensional and nonlinear finite element method is used to estimate the performances of bonded composite repairs of metallic cracked aircraft structures by analyzing the J integral and at the crack tips of repaired cracks for single and double symmetric patches. Several calculations have been realized to extract the plasticized elements around the crack tip. The obtained results show that composite repair reduces significantly the J integral at the crack tip which can improve the fatigue life of aircraft structures. It was also shown that the double symmetric patch has a considerable beneficial effect on the repair performance compared to the single patch.</jats:p
Analysis and Repair of Crack Growth Emanating from V-notch under Stepped Variable Fatigue Loading
AbstractIn this paper, we studied the fatigue behavior of a crack emanating from v-notched aluminum (7075-T6) plate. To analyze the fatigue life of notched specimens we applied variable cyclic block-loading sequences, including increasing (L-H) and decreasing (H-L) blocks. We also analyzed the effect of the stress ratio(R) on the fatigue life of aluminum specimen subjected to stepped variable cyclic loading. The obtained results show that the effect of stress ratio on the fatigue life is significant. The patch repair efficiency is found to be limited for increasing (L-H) loading blocks but is significantly high for decreasing (H-L) cyclic loading blocks
