A Stylistic Study into the Poem “The Lost Alternative” By the Poet: Nizar Abu Naser
This study was performed based on the poem “the Lost Alternative” by the poet Nizar Abu Naser. This poem is part of the divan “the Lost Alternative.” To conduct the study, the stylistic method was adopted. Thus, the title, as well as the stylistic levels such as the language, combinations, visualization, and rhythm were studied. That is, the role of different styles in enriching the text and its semantic and aesthetic aspects were investigated
On the relationship between students’ overall satisfaction with higher education STEM courses, and university teachers’ didactical practice. An empirical analysis
In this article, we discuss the relationship between students' overall satisfaction with higher education STEM courses (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and the teachers' didactical practice. We analyzed student feedback from 4,683 digital course evaluations which spanned the period from fall 2020 to fall 2021 at the Faculty of Science and Technology (TN-faculty), University of Stavanger (UiS). Additionally, we collected 1854 open-ended written responses in spring and fall 2022, and conducted two focus group interviews in spring 2023 with eight students from the same population. We raise the research questions: What is the connection between students´ overall satisfaction with STEM courses, found in an institutional student evaluation procedure at UiS, and the university teachers’ didactical practice? And what can we learn from students´ evaluations and feedback that is relevant to how we perceive and strive for teaching and educational quality enhancement in higher education? Our analysis shows that there are strong correlations between students´ overall satisfaction, the evaluation questions, and how they understand what being prepared for teaching means
Ion Energy Measurements in Plasma Immersion Ion Implantation
This thesis investigates ion energy distributions (IEDs) during plasma immersion ion implantation (PIII). PIII is a surface modification technique where an object is placed in a plasma and pulse biased with large negative voltages. The energy distribution of implanted ions is important in determining the extent of surface modifications. IED measurements were made during PIII using a pulse biased retarding field energy analyser (RFEA) in a capacitive RF plasma. Experimental results were compared with those obtained from a two dimensional numerical simulation to help explain the origins of features in the IEDs. Time resolved IED measurements were made during PIII of metal and insulator materials and investigated the effects of the use of a metal mesh over the surface and the effects of insulator surface charging. When the pulse was applied to the RFEA, the ion flux rapidly increased above the pulse-off value and then slowly decreased during the pulse. The ion density during the pulse decreased below values measured when no pulse was applied to the RFEA. This indicates that the depletion of ions by the pulsed RFEA is greater than the generation of ions in the plasma. IEDs measured during pulse biasing showed a peak close to the maximum sheath potential energy and a spread of ions with energies between zero and the maximum ion energy. Simulations showed that the peak is produced by ions from the sheath edge directly above the RFEA inlet and that the spread of ions is produced by ions which collide in the sheath and/or arrive at the RFEA with trajectories not perpendicular to the RFEA front surface. The RFEA discriminates ions based only on the component of their velocity perpendicular to the RFEA front surface. To minimise the effects of surface charging during PIII of an insulator, a metal mesh can be placed over the insulator and pulse biased together with the object. Measurements were made with metal mesh cylinders fixed to the metal RFEA front surface. The use of a mesh gave a larger ion flux compared to the use of no mesh. The larger ion flux is attributed to the larger plasma-sheath surface area around the mesh. The measured IEDs showed a low, medium and high energy peak. Simulation results show that the high energy peak is produced by ions from the sheath above the mesh top. The low energy peak is produced by ions trapped by the space charge potential hump which forms inside the mesh. The medium energy peak is produced by ions from the sheath above the mesh corners. Simulations showed that the IED is dependent on measurement position under the mesh. To investigate the effects of insulator surface charging during PIII, IED measurements were made through an orifice cut into a Mylar insulator on the RFEA front surface. With no mesh, during the pulse, an increasing number of lower energy ions were measured. Simulation results show that this is due to the increase in the curvature of the sheath over the orifice region as the insulator potential increases due to surface charging. The surface charging observed at the insulator would reduce the average energy of ions implanted into the insulator during the pulse. Compared to the case with no mesh, the use of a mesh increases the total ion flux and the ion flux during the early stages of the pulse but does not eliminate surface charging. During the pulse, compared to the no mesh case, a larger number of lower energy ions are measured. Simulation results show that this is caused by the potential in the mesh region which affects the trajectories of ions from the sheaths above the mesh top and corners and results in more ions being measured with trajectories less than ninety degrees to the RFEA front surface

Code Switching as a Communicative Strategy for the Bilingual Saudi Speakers at Jouf University
Besides to the communicative function of language there is the social function which shows the role that language plays in society. This can be noted in sociolinguistics through code switching. The main purpose of the case study is to investigate and understand the functions of Arabic-English code switching among the bilingual Saudi speakers in Jouf University from a sociolinguistic perspective. The case study was carried out qualitatively. This paper focuses on the analysis and discussion of the code switching of four bilingual Saudi speakers living in Jouf, Saudi Arabia. Data were collected through observation, audio taping and semi-structured interviews. The findings indicated that there are four communicative functions of Arabic-English code switching among bilingual Saudi speakers i.e. to quote, to show off, to change topics and to express feelings

Motivacija za to magistrsko delo je bilo avtoričino iskanje
podobeprav določene podobe, izgubljene v najglobljih predelih
našega uma. Iskanje podobe, ki je nikoli nismo videli ali
doživelipodobe, ki je še nihče nikoli ni videl, ter ob tem
izzvati čutila in človeško naravo v danem trenutku.
Namen dela je iskati odgovore in si zastaviti vprašanja o tem,
preostala čutila postanejo nekako manj pomembna in zanesljiva.
To delo z naslovom "Temna podoba – podoba, ki smo jo izgubili v
temi", raziskuje moč podobe pri manipulaciji množice in vlogo
medijev pri nadzoru in pranju možganov pripadnikom nove
generacije.
V magistrskem delu avtorica najprej predstavi projekte "Kumra
1", "Kumra 2" in "Kaj vidiš v temi?" – poskuse, izvedene v prvem
in drugem letu raziskovanja, skozi katere predstavi analizo in
opazovanje svojih eksperimentov. Ti predstavljajo začetek
raziskovanja čutil v popolni temi, ki je nato pripeljalo do
"Sestavljanke", praktičnega dela te naloge, ki se sprašuje o
medijski manipulaciji z uporabo podobe. The motivation for this thesis was the author’s search for an
image, a particular image lost in the deepest parts of our mind,
searching for an image that we never saw or experienced before,
an image that no-one has ever seen, challenging the senses and
the human nature at a time.
The purpose of this thesis is to search for answers and to
question how much people trust their senses and to question
people’s ability to change their behavior and routines. To
measure people’s courage to turn off the light for a few seconds
and be able to see differently. It is no surprise that people
depend remarkably on their visual sense, which somehow made the
other senses less essential and less reliable. This thesis,
“Dark Image - The image we lost in the dark,” researches the
power of the image in manipulating masses and the role media
plays to control and brainwash the new generation with the least
effort spent.
In this thesis, the author first presents projects “KUMRA 1”,
“KUMRA 2” and “what does one see in the dark?” Experiments which
were made during the first year and second year of research and
through which the author presents her analysis and observation
of her experiments. It was the beginning of a sensual journey
exploring the senses in the deep dark. Which led to the master
thesis (practical) project Puzzle that questions the
manipulation of media using the image
The Shift toward Fusha (Classical Arabic Language) Reconstruction of the Concept
This research aims to re-formulate the concept of conversion to classical Arabic, in light of the challenges it faces in the era of globalization, and the failure of attempts to impose fusha in the street and in schools and universities, By trying to uncover pragmatic methods, that succeed in bringing life back to Standard Arabic in different sectors, But with a less perfect outlook, more closer to the user's need, it suggests various ways to achieve this. In this context, the research seeks to answer questions such as: Does speaking “ fusha” represent a priority issue in light of the rampant weakness in public education? can the project of “ shifting to fusha” in the street and in the classroom succeed? What is the purpose of shifting to fusha? How does Fusha contribute to preserving and strengthening Arab culture? Who should undertake this task? What are the roles of the different parties to achieve the required goal?</jats:p
