Polynomial Structure of Topological String Partition Functions
We review the polynomial structure of the topological string partition
functions as solutions to the holomorphic anomaly equations. We also explain
the connection between the ring of propagators defined from special K\"ahler
geometry and the ring of almost-holomorphic modular forms defined on modular
curves.Comment: version 2: references fixe
Immittance Spectroscopy of Smart Components and Novel Devices
AC small-signal immittance spectroscopy is employed as a viable tool to demonstrate electrical characterization, performance improvement, and quality assurance issues of smart materials-based components and novel devices. The variation in the ac response, complemented via dc measurements within a range of tolerating temperature, delineates competing phenomena occurring in the microstructures of these engineering material systems. The results are presented in a generic manner with possible explanations on the mechanisms for two selected Debye-like (nearly ideal) and non-Debye (non-ideal) low-capacitance resistors. This spectroscopic approach allows systematic development of a representative equivalent circuit, considered to be the characteristic of the devices and components, for specific applications
Pemberantasan Korupsi dalam Reformasi Birokrasi di Vietnam
This research discusses the reformation of bureaucracy in Vietnam. The elites of the central government were involved in the process. This study questions state-elite relations in implementing reformation of bureaucracy in combating corruption, what form, what factors shape the form and under what circumstances does it change. Studies on this subject varies from statist, elitist approach. The statist approach focuses on the role of the state, questioning whether it dominate the politics (Evans),. Elitist approach focuses on the concentration and exercise of power by elites (Mills, Mosca, Pareto, and Keller) in shaping policies. This research shows that the conflict between the central elite is caused by dispute over implementing reformation of bureaucracy in combating corruption. The dispute over implementing reformation of bureaucracy within the administration had led to the function of state autonomy in which case is combating corruption indicated by how the state not seriously became government program. This occurred due to the ability of the International issue to influence the policy of Vietnam government. In turn this impacted the state, in this case the government of Vietnam, to be capable of taking normal political decisions but to be incapable taking political decisions of combating corruption. This study supports and corroborates state autonomy theory on the state as dominate policies of combating corruption. In particular on state autonomy that is shown by the interest of elites of central government. In theory of the state's autonomy is the manner in which the state manages the distortion or pressure of the global issue of corruption
Local pore size correlations determine flow distributions in porous media
The relationship between the microstructure of a porous medium and the
observed flow distribution is still a puzzle. We resolve it with an analytical
model, where the local correlations between adjacent pores, which determine the
distribution of flows propagated from one pore downstream, predict the flow
distribution. Numerical simulations of a two-dimensional porous medium verify
the model and clearly show the transition of flow distributions from
-function-like via Gaussians to exponential with increasing disorder.
Comparison to experimental data further verifies our numerical approach.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, supplemental materia
Redupnya Peran Politik Islam di Masa Demokrasi Terpimpin (Studi Kasus Pembubaran Masyumi oleh Presiden Soekarno)
In the relationship between Islam and the state it is necessary to clarify the political decision of the ruler over the political role of Islam. As the majority religion in Indonesia, it is only natural that Islam becomes part of the relations in the political decision of the ruler. Therefore, examining the relationship between Islam and the state has an important meaning, for this reason the research seeks to explain the common thread of the state and Islam, especially how the political bargaining of Muslims with the authorities. In the period of Guided Democracy, President Soekarno was a political ruler, along with other political forces such as the Indonesian Army and the PKI. For this reason, tracking President Soekarno\u27s past role in Guided Democracy was a major study in order to reflect the current relationship between the ruler and Islam. This research will look at the role of President Soekarno towards Masyumi in the national political contestation during the Guided Democracy period. The existence of ideological linkages between President Soekarno and President Joko Widodo, makes this research interesting. Are there points of equality between the two as a study of political decision making by a ruler
