Precise measurement of RudsR_{\text{uds}} and RR between 1.84 and 3.72 GeV at the KEDR detector

The present work continues a series of the KEDR measurements of the RR value that started in 2010 at the VEPP-4M e+ee^+e^- collider. By combining new data with our previous results in this energy range we measured the values of RudsR_{\text{uds}} and RR at nine center-of-mass energies between 3.08 and 3.72 GeV. The total accuracy is about or better than 2.6%2.6\% at most of energy points with a systematic uncertainty of about 1.9%1.9\%. Together with the previous precise RR measurement at KEDR in the energy range 1.84-3.05 GeV, it constitutes the most detailed high-precision RR measurement near the charmonium production threshold.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1610.02827 and substantial text overlap with arXiv:1510.0266

Measurement of J/ψγηcJ/\psi\to\gamma\eta_{\rm c} decay rate and ηc\eta_{\rm c} parameters at KEDR

Using the inclusive photon spectrum based on a data sample collected at the J/ψJ/\psi peak with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e+ee^+e^- collider, we measured the rate of the radiative decay J/ψγηcJ/\psi\to\gamma\eta_{\rm c} as well as ηc\eta_{\rm c} mass and width. Taking into account an asymmetric photon lineshape we obtained Γγηc0=2.98±0.180.33+0.15\Gamma^0_{\gamma\eta_{\rm c}}=2.98\pm0.18 \phantom{|}^{+0.15}_{-0.33} keV, Mηc=2983.5±1.43.6+1.6M_{\eta_{\rm c}} = 2983.5 \pm 1.4 \phantom{|}^{+1.6}_{-3.6} MeV/c2c^2, Γηc=27.2±3.12.6+5.4\Gamma_{\eta_{\rm c}} = 27.2 \pm 3.1 \phantom{|}^{+5.4}_{-2.6} MeV.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure

Measurement of B(J/psi->eta_c gamma) at KEDR

We present a study of the inclusive photon spectrum from 6.3 million J/psi decays collected with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M e+e- collider. We measure the branching fraction of the radiative decay J/psi -> eta_c gamma, eta_c width and mass. Taking into account an asymmetric photon line shape we obtain: M(eta_c) = (2978.1 +- 1.4 +- 2.0) MeV/c^2, Gamma(eta_c) = (43.5 +- 5.4 +- 15.8) MeV, B(J/psi->eta_c gamma) = (2.59 +- 0.16 +- 0.31)%$.Comment: 6 pages, 1 figure. Percutaneous cystolithotripsy for patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia

Introduction. According to the literature, 5.0% of patients with urolithiasis are characterized by the presence of stones in the bladder. The issue of bladder stones for patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia remains relevant and requires further improvement of approaches to surgical treatment.Purpose of the study. To evaluate the safety and efficacy of energy-diverse percutaneous cystolithotripsy (and placement of a cystostomy catheter) in comparison with transurethral cystolithotripsy.Materials and methods. A retrospective analysis of 56 cases in patients (aged 54-82 years) with bladder stones was carried out. All patients were treated in the Urology Clinic of the Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University from 2019 to 2021. Two groups were formed: group I — 26 (46.4%) patients who underwent percutaneous cystolithotripsy, group II — 30 (53.6%) patients underwent transurethral cystolithotripsy. The duration of surgery, intraoperative and postoperative complications were assessed.Results. On average, the duration of surgery for the percutaneous approach was shorter than for transurethral access (35 vs 44 min). The stone-free rate in the case of the percutaneous approach was 100.0%, while in transurethral cystolithotripsy the stone-free rate was 90.0%. In the early postoperative period, in groups I and II, gross hematuria was observed for 2 (7.6%) and 4 (13.3%) patients, respectively. In the late postoperative period, 2 patients from group II had a urethral stricture.Conclusions. Percutaneous cystolithotripsy is a minimally invasive method of stone fragmentation, characterized by a minimal risk of intra- and postoperative complications

Biocompatible and functional properties of a microdispersed tissue-specific 3D matrix from decellularized porcine cartilage

In contrast to decellularization of soft tissues for use as tissue-specific matrices in the creation of tissue-engineered constructs, decellularization of cartilage tissue requires several processing techniques, which can negatively affect the biocompatibility and functional properties of the native extracellular matrix (ECM).Objective: to study the biocompatible and functional properties of microdispersed tissue-specific 3D matrix from a porcine cartilage that is decellularized by sequential use of chemical, physical and enzymatic techniques.Materials and methods. For decellularization, microdispersed cartilage particles (MCPs), obtained by cryomilling, were incubated in detergent solutions (sodium dodecyl sulfate and Triton X-100), then treated with supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) with 10% ethanol and DNase I. The Ames test (Salmonella typhimurium reverse mutation assay) was used to determine the genotoxicity of decellularized microdispersed cartilage particles (dMCPs). Local and general toxic effects, as well as resorption of dMCPs were studied in vivo on sexually mature outbred rats. Decellularized MCP specimens (10 mg) were implanted into the thigh muscle tissue. Viability of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (hAdMSCs), when cultured on dMCPs, was analyzed by in vivo microscopy, stained with fluorescent Calcein AM dye. Cell metabolic activity was assessed using PrestoBlue™ Cell Viability Reagent.Results. It has been proven that porcine dMCPs implanted in rat muscle after treatment with scCO2 do not exhibit local and general toxic effects, and do not show genotoxicity and negative effects on the reproductive system of animals. After 6 months of in vivo experiment, most (87%) of the implanted decellularized cartilage was resorbed. It was shown that the resulting matrices are able to support adhesion and proliferation of hAdMSCs. Conclusion. Porcine dMCP specimens are suitable for biocompatible medical products in terms of local and general toxic effects, genotoxicity and reproductive toxicity, and can be used as a matrix for creating cell- and tissue-engineered cartilage constructs

Spontaneous rupture of the renal pyelocaliceal system

    Get PDF
Spontaneous rupture of the renal pyelocalyceal system (PCS) is a rare condition that can be challenging to diagnose. Unlike traumatic injuries, this condition is not easily identified based on clinical symptoms, anamnesis, or physical examination findings. However, in most cases, PCS rupture is a result of underlying medical conditions. Surgical intervention for ruptured PCS should aim to immediately drain the kidney and the retroperitoneal area. This report aims to illustrate a clinical case involving treatment of a patient with spontaneously ruptured PCS
