Endoscopic measurements using a panoramic annular lens
The objective of this project was to design, build, demonstrate, and deliver a prototype system for making measurements within cavities. The system was to utilize structured lighting as the means for making measurements and was to rely on a stationary probe, equipped with a unique panoramic annular lens, to capture a cylindrical view of the illuminated cavity. Panoramic images, acquired with a digitizing camera and stored in a desk top computer, were to be linearized and analyzed by mouse-driven interactive software
Endoscopic inspection using a panoramic annular lens
The objective of this one year study was to design, build, and demonstrate a prototype system for cavity inspection. A cylindrical view of the cavity interior was captured in real time through a compound lens system consisting of a unique panoramic annular lens and a collector lens. Images, acquired with a digitizing camera and stored in a desktop computer, were manipulated using image processing software to aid in visual inspection and qualitative analysis. A detailed description of the lens and its applications is given

Героическое в произведениях А.А.
Проблеми героiчного в военiй прозi та поезii А.А.Фета разглядаються в контекстi літературної полемікі другоїї половини Х1Х сторіччя. В ході дослiдництва лiтературно-крiтичних матерiалiв та творiв поета робиться спроба переглянути iснування традицiйних стереотипiв вiдносно творчостi та особистого життя художника- естета та прийти до висновка: вiйськова тематика поета "чистого мистецтва" не була вiдокремленою вiд всii його спадщини, вона органiчно вписувалась в його естетичну програму. In the way of research of literal and critical materials and works of the poet the attempt is making to reexamine existence of formed stereotypes which are related to creative work and personal life of artist-design and go up to the conclusion that poet?s war subject-matter of "pure art" was not isolated from all his legacy. It enters organically into his aesthetic program
Physical and chemical characterisation of some silicas and silica derivatives
An extensive study of four types of porous silica supports has been performed, with particular emphasis on their physical and morphological characteristics. These silicas were modified by reacting the surface silanol groups present with either 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylmethacrylate or 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane or 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, to produce derivatives with suitable functional groups for further utilisation in the immobilisation of biological compounds. The silicas and their derivatives used were fully characterised with regard to particle size distribution (laser light scattering), specific surface area (BET method), pore size distribution (gas adsorption and mercury porosimetry), density (helium pycnometry), yield of grafting (TGA) and chemical composition (FTIR/DRIFT).http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/B6TH9-3TXCN74-C/1/0c8b28b8c7165139b2661a2e21e0355
Bond of NSM FRP strengthened concrete: round robin test initiative
Despite the extensive research that has been conducted on the debonding behaviour of FRP
strengthening systems, no standard methodology has been yet established on its experimental
characterization. In this context, to assess the performance and reliability of small scale testing
on NSM (near surface mounted) FRP strengthening systems, an experimental program was
carried out on a series of nine NSM FRP strengthening systems, in the framework of an
international Round Robin Testing (RRT). Eleven laboratories and seven manufacturers and
suppliers participated in this extensive international exercise, which regarded both NSM and
EBR FRP strengthening systems. Test results obtained for the NSM systems by the
participating laboratories are discussed and compared in this paper to investigate the feasibility
of the adopted single/double pulling shear test method, to investigate the mechanism of bond
between NSM FRP reinforcement and concrete, and to investigate the level of variability
obtained between the participating laboratories testing the same material batches.
It is concluded that the tested variants in the adopted single/double shear pulling test have a
significant influence, stressing the importance of the level of detail of standardized test
protocols for bond verification. On overall, given the variants included in this study, the
obtained variation in bond stress-slip behaviour between the laboratories remained fairly
limited. The authors wish to acknowledge the financial assistance of the European Union for the Marie Curie Research Training Network En-Core, and the support of TG 9.3 of the International Federation for Structural Concrete (fib). Any l-state improved quasi-exact analytical solutions of the spatially dependent mass Klein-Gordon equation for the scalar and vector Hulthen potentials
We present a new approximation scheme for the centrifugal term to obtain a
quasi-exact analytical bound state solutions within the framework of the
position-dependent effective mass radial Klein-Gordon equation with the scalar
and vector Hulth\'{e}n potentials in any arbitrary dimension and orbital
angular momentum quantum numbers The Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method is used
in the calculations. The relativistic real energy levels and corresponding
eigenfunctions for the bound states with different screening parameters have
been given in a closed form. It is found that the solutions in the case of
constant mass and in the case of s-wave () are identical with the ones
obtained in literature.Comment: 25 pages, 1 figur
Reduced-bias estimator of the Conditional Tail Expectation of heavy-tailed distributions
International audienceSeveral risk measures have been proposed in the literature. In this paper, we focus on the estimation of the Conditional Tail Expectation (CTE). Its asymptotic normality has been first established in the literature under the classical assumption that the second moment of the loss variable is finite, this condition being very restrictive in practical applications. Such a result has been extended by Necir {\it et al.} (2010) in the case of infinite second moment. In this framework, we propose a reduced-bias estimator of the CTE. We illustrate the efficiency of our approach on a small simulation study and a real data analysis
Solution of the relativistic Dirac-Hulthen problem
The one-particle three-dimensional Dirac equation with spherical symmetry is
solved for the Hulthen potential. The s-wave relativistic energy spectrum and
two-component spinor wavefunctions are obtained analytically. Conforming to the
standard feature of the relativistic problem, the solution space splits into
two distinct subspaces depending on the sign of a fundamental parameter in the
problem. Unique and interesting properties of the energy spectrum are pointed
out and illustrated graphically for several values of the physical parameters.
The square integrable two-component wavefunctions are written in terms of the
Jacobi polynomials. The nonrelativistic limit reproduces the well-known
nonrelativistic energy spectrum and results in Schrodinger equation with a
"generalized" three-parameter Hulthen potential, which is the sum of the
original Hulthen potential and its square.Comment: 13 pages, 3 color figure
