Swirl coaxial injector element characterization for booster engines
Recent hot fire testing at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) has indicated the swirl-coaxial element to be a viable candidate for the STBE injector. Plans are to test the current 40K lbf thrust injector at the higher chamber pressure and colder fuel temperature which are anticipated for STBE. A cold flow program to characterize the swirl coax element over a range of operating points was conducted. The results are presented and compared to the hot fire data. Predictions for compatibility, performance and stability are then presented for the uprated test conditions

Existing peatland development and future uses for peat are described and evaluated in this report. Scenarios for future development of the study area peat industry are described in terms of employment, earnings, capital investment, and value of production. Forecasts of the potential impacts of peatland development on regional industry production, employment, earnings, and population are presented. These impacts are determined by using SIMLAB, an acronym for a regional socio-economic computer model developed at the University of Minnesota for quantitative analysis of the direct, indirect and induced socio-economic effects of events like peatland development.Land Economics/Use,
Boulder City, Nevada revenue generating analysis
Boulder City (City) is unique in the State of Nevada as being a non-gaming city, maintaining a controlled growth ordinance, and steadfastly holding to its “small town” values and character. The City has been facing budgetary challenges as future expenditures are anticipated to continually exceed revenues if current services levels are maintained. Indeed, fiscal reviews indicate the City has been transferring contingency monies between funds to cover overages for the past several fiscal years. Development of a SiPM Camera for a Schwarzschild-Couder Cherenkov Telescope for the Cherenkov Telescope Array
We present the development of a novel 11328 pixel silicon photomultiplier
(SiPM) camera for use with a ground-based Cherenkov telescope with
Schwarzschild-Couder optics as a possible medium-sized telescope for the
Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA). The finely pixelated camera samples air-shower
images with more than twice the optical resolution of cameras that are used in
current Cherenkov telescopes. Advantages of the higher resolution will be a
better event reconstruction yielding improved background suppression and
angular resolution of the reconstructed gamma-ray events, which is crucial in
morphology studies of, for example, Galactic particle accelerators and the
search for gamma-ray halos around extragalactic sources. Packing such a large
number of pixels into an area of only half a square meter and having a fast
readout directly attached to the back of the sensors is a challenging task. For
the prototype camera development, SiPMs from Hamamatsu with through silicon via
(TSV) technology are used. We give a status report of the camera design and
highlight a number of technological advancements that made this development
