Nutrition problems in Indonesia that remain a serious concern are undernutrition and malnutrition, especially Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM). Undernutrition refers to nutritional status measured using the indicator Weight for Height (BB/TB) with a z-score between -3SD to <-2SD. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that 54% of deaths in children under five are caused by protein energy malnutrition. This study aims to determine the effect of substitution of tuna flour and red bean flour on the acceptability of cookies. This research is an experimental research with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Substitution of tuna and red bean flour was done in three treatments: F1 (30%:5%), F2 (20%:10%), and F3 (10%:15%). Organoleptic test was conducted by 30 panelists from students of Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang. Data analysis used ANOVA test to determine significant differences between treatments. The results of the organoleptic test showed that cookies with a substitution of tuna flour and red bean flour in treatment F3 had the highest level of acceptance in the aspects of color, aroma, texture, and taste. The average organoleptic assessment shows the like category. ANOVA test showed significant differences between treatments in the aspects of color, aroma, texture, and taste.Nutrition problems in Indonesia that remain a serious concern are undernutrition and malnutrition, especially Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM). We acknowledge Ton van der Zalm from Tupola for the development of the irrigation system. Additionally, we thank Jaco Baars from Tupola for the laughs and mental support given during the building of this setup. We thank Peter Garamszegi and & Aacute;ngel Velasco Sanchez for helping inwatering the columns manually when the irrigation system was not functional. We also thank Steven Heesterman, Xuming Li, Karen Moran Rivera, Jonna van den Berg and Kangying Xie for the help provided during the sampling. We thank Peggy Bartsch, Tom Jaeppinen, Peter Nobels, Brent Rotgans, Andre van Leeuwen and Gerlinde Vink for the assistance in the lab, the analyses of the samples and the fruitful discussions. Finally, we thank Jeroen Zonneveld from Unifarm for the provision and maintenance of the climate chamber. This setup was built as part of the Bio-Accelerated Mineral Weathering (BAM!) project, which is funded by the European Union Horizon 2020 framework program for research and innovation under grant agreement No 964545

    Strategic Belief Management

While (managerial) beliefs are central to many aspects of strategic organization, interactive beliefs are almost entirely neglected, save for some game theory treatments. In an increasingly connected and networked economy, firms confront coordination problems that arise because of network effects. The capability to manage beliefs will increasingly be a strategic one, a key source of wealth creation, and a key research area for strategic organization scholars. KEYWORDS: Interactive beliefs, coordination, network economy, common knowledge. JEL CODE: D84, M3

A double-edged sword? Founder Teams' Prior International Experience and INV International Scale-up

    Get PDF
We examine the effect of international new ventures’ (INVs) congenital knowledge inherited from their founding teams vs. their experiential knowledge gained through learning by doing on the initiation vs. continuation of their international growth. Data from 144 technology INVs show that the effect of congenital knowledge fades as experiential knowledge accrues over time and fuels sustained international growth. The relationships are moderated by whether founder teams’ work experience is in the same or a different industry as the INV as well as the level of external funding received by the INV. Our study and results contribute to the literature on INVs’ post-entry internationalization

The effect of MNEs’ technology startup acquisitions on small open economies’ entrepreneurial ecosystems

    Get PDF
The strength and innovativeness of small open economies (SOECs) have long attracted multinational enterprises’ (MNEs’) entry. However, in their quest for new knowledge and technological capabilities, MNEs have been active in acquiring the technology-based startups in these countries. While some of these acquisitions are beneficial to the development and growth of SOECs’ entrepreneurial ecosystems, others can have serious long-term negative effects that have not been sufficiently recognized in the literature. We discuss the policy implications of MNEs’ acquisitions of technology-based startups, especially for SOECs’ entrepreneurial ecosystems
