    Strategic Information Systems Planning In The Banking Sector—a Path Analytic Model Study In The Indian Context

    This paper presents a path analytic model showing the cause and effect relationships among various Information Systems (IS) planning variables for the banking sector in India. In recent years, there has been an increased awareness among banks of the potential of Information Technology (IT) and the use of information systems. Strategic information system planning (SISP) becomes an important issue in the use of IS strategically. In India, banks have now started realizing the importance of SISP. In this study, 11 IS planning variables for the banking sector in India are examined and the influence of one over the other is investigated using path analysis. Data for the study are collected from 52 banks operating in India. The results of the study indicate that top management involvement in IS planning greatly influences the whole planning exercise. Moreover, top management involvement is higher when they foresee greater future impact of IS. The study also highlights the need and importance of user training in the banking sector. Change in the focus and orientation of user-training will make the users competent to conceive with innovative IS applications

    Drivers of Innovation Practices in SMEs

    In terms of industries or business, one of the very important aspects of any growing economy is SMEs which are responsible for driving innovation and development in different areas. SMEs should possess a strategy which manages decisions effectively. Innovation is the key to making such strategies effective to achieve the ultimate goals. Presently, there are so many studies available in the literature for big industries, but less literature is available which collects drivers of innovation practice in SMEs in one article. Hence this article concentrates on discovering some of the driving forces of innovation practice in SMEs through previous studies. There are some factors which act as drivers for innovation practice in SMEs, these drivers help the SMEs to achieve their desired target. A basic literature review approach is embraced to viably identify those key drivers. This study contributes to the innovation management articles on SMEs. Some future research constraints are also suggested in the article.</p

    Entrepreneurial ecosystems are a strategy that is designed to nurture economic development by promoting entrepreneurship, small business growth, and innovation. Ecosystems represent a new direction for entrepreneurship research that simultaneously increases knowledge of the complex contextual environments surrounding the entrepreneurship process, while at the same time providing useful contributions to policy debates around the role of high-growth entrepreneurship as a driver of regional economic development. This article reviews the concept evolution; different definitions and factors of entrepreneurial ecosystems. Additionally, it provides approaches of past contributions about entrepreneurial ecosystem. This article contributes to knowledge generation and provides further research directions. This study is an attempt to cover the different articles that exist on the entrepreneurial ecosystems.</jats:p

    An Empirical Investigation of Innovative Management Practices of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs)

    Innovation is considered an essential activity for small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs). The contribution of innovation in the Indian economy is very noticeable. India is continuously improving and has jumped to the 52nd position in the overall world ranking in 2019. The objectives of this study are to identify the factors of innovative management practices indulged in SMEs to achieve innovation and to propose a framework for measuring firm performance in the region of Chhattisgarh state in India. Data was gathered using a self-monitored questionnaire survey and an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) method using SPSS 20.0 software was applied to get the factors of innovative management practices. This study identified eight factors of innovative management practices involved in SMEs. Further, their reliability test and mean value analysis has been done. A conceptual framework of firm performance measurement is also presented at the end. Also, this study contributes a good amount of work in innovation management literature which will help scholars and academicians for future work.</jats:p

    Role of Information Systems in Banks: An Empirical Study in the Indian Context

    In the current era of competition, the use of computers and allied technologies has become inevitable and it has been well recognized that Information Systems (IS) plays different roles in different industries. This paper makes an attempt to explore empirically the difference in the role of IS in the banking industry, i.e., between public sector, private sector, and foreign sector banks operating in India. The study indicates that IS plays a supportive role in public sector banks and a strategic role in private and foreign sector banks. The study also indicates that the future impact of IS does not vary significantly with the banking groups. </jats:p
