On Exceptional Vertex Operator (Super) Algebras
We consider exceptional vertex operator algebras and vertex operator
superalgebras with the property that particular Casimir vectors constructed
from the primary vectors of lowest conformal weight are Virasoro descendents of
the vacuum. We show that the genus one partition function and characters for
simple ordinary modules must satisfy modular linear differential equations. We
show the rationality of the central charge and module lowest weights,
modularity of solutions, the dimension of each graded space is a rational
function of the central charge and that the lowest weight primaries generate
the algebra. We also discuss conditions on the reducibility of the lowest
weight primary vectors as a module for the automorphism group. Finally we
analyse solutions for exceptional vertex operator algebras with primary vectors
of lowest weight up to 9 and for vertex operator superalgebras with primary
vectors of lowest weight up to 17/2. Most solutions can be identified with
simple ordinary modules for known algebras but there are also four conjectured
algebras generated by weight two primaries and three conjectured extremal
vertex operator algebras generated by primaries of weight 3, 4 and 6

Three-dimensional AdS gravity and extremal CFTs at c=8m
We note that Witten's proposed duality between extremal c=24k CFTs and
three-dimensional anti-de Sitter gravity may possibly be extended to central
charges that are multiples of 8, for which extremal self-dual CFTs are known to
exist up to c=40. All CFTs of this type with central charge 24 or higher,
provided that they exist, have the required mass gap and may serve as candidate
duals to three-dimensional gravity at the corresponding values of the
cosmological constant. Here, we compute the genus one partition function of
these theories up to c=88, we give exact and approximate formulas for the
degeneracies of states, and we determine the genus two partition functions of

Genus Two Partition and Correlation Functions for Fermionic Vertex Operator Superalgebras I
We define the partition and -point correlation functions for a vertex
operator superalgebra on a genus two Riemann surface formed by sewing two tori
together. For the free fermion vertex operator superalgebra we obtain a closed
formula for the genus two continuous orbifold partition function in terms of an
infinite dimensional determinant with entries arising from torus Szeg\"o
kernels. We prove that the partition function is holomorphic in the sewing
parameters on a given suitable domain and describe its modular properties.
Using the bosonized formalism, a new genus two Jacobi product identity is
described for the Riemann theta series. We compute and discuss the modular
properties of the generating function for all -point functions in terms of a
genus two Szeg\"o kernel determinant. We also show that the Virasoro vector one

Apesar do crescente interesse pela agricultura orgânica, são poucas as informações de pesquisa disponíveis sobre o assunto. Assim, num Argissolo Vermelho-Amarelo distrófico foram comparados os efeitos de sistemas de cultivo orgânico e convencional, para as culturas do tomate (Lycopersicum esculentum) e do milho (Zea mays), sobre a comunidade de organismos do solo e suas atividades. As populações de fungos,bactérias e actinomicetos, determinadas pela contagem de colônias em meio de cultura, foram semelhantes para os dois sistemas de produção. A atividade microbiana, avaliada pela evolução de CO2, manteve-se superior no sistema orgânico, sendo que em determinadas avaliações foi o dobro da evolução verificada no sistema convencional. O número de espécimes de minhoca foi praticamente dez vezes maior no sistema orgânico. Não foi observada diferença na taxa de decomposição de matéria orgânica entre os dois sistemas. De modo geral, o número de indivíduos de microartrópodos foi superior no sistema orgânico do que no sistema convencional, refletindo no maior índice de diversidade de Shannon. As maiores populações de insetos foram as da ordem Collembola, enquanto para os ácaros a maior população foi a da superfamília Oribatuloidea. Indivíduos dos grupos Aranae, Chilopoda, Dyplopoda, Pauropoda, Protura e Symphyla foram ocasionalmente coletados e de forma similar entre os sistemas

Conflicted scientists: the “shared pool” dilemma of scientific advisory committees
Science advisors play a critical role in government policy making, yet these advisors are often equally attractive to regulated industry. Despite efforts to manage conflicts of interest among science advisors, allegations of conflict frequently plague advisory committee deliberations or outcomes. This article examines what we term the “shared pool” dilemma using data collected from 92 members of 11 US Food and Drug Administration advisory committees. The results suggested science advisors were generally positive about their experiences on advisory committees and viewed the committee process as impartial. Written comments suggested that advisors linked the neutrality of the process to the success of the FDA’s conflict-of-interest procedures. Even so, the advisors acknowledged the challenges associated with recruiting disinterested and qualified scientists to serve on advisory committees, reflecting the shared pool dilemma. Many advisors seemed more troubled about advisors participating when they lacked expertise than when they had minor conflicts of interest
The pyramidalis-anterior pubic ligament-adductor longus complex (PLAC) and its role with adductor injuries: a new anatomical concept.
PURPOSE: Adductor longus injuries are complex. The conflict between views in the recent literature and various nineteenth-century anatomy books regarding symphyseal and perisymphyseal anatomy can lead to difficulties in MRI interpretation and treatment decisions. The aim of the study is to systematically investigate the pyramidalis muscle and its anatomical connections with adductor longus and rectus abdominis, to elucidate injury patterns occurring with adductor avulsions. METHODS: A layered dissection of the soft tissues of the anterior symphyseal area was performed on seven fresh-frozen male cadavers. The dimensions of the pyramidalis muscle were measured and anatomical connections with adductor longus, rectus abdominis and aponeuroses examined. RESULTS: The pyramidalis is the only abdominal muscle anterior to the pubic bone and was found bilaterally in all specimens. It arises from the pubic crest and anterior pubic ligament and attaches to the linea alba on the medial border. The proximal adductor longus attaches to the pubic crest and anterior pubic ligament. The anterior pubic ligament is also a fascial anchor point connecting the lower anterior abdominal aponeurosis and fascia lata. The rectus abdominis, however, is not attached to the adductor longus; its lateral tendon attaches to the cranial border of the pubis; and its slender internal tendon attaches inferiorly to the symphysis with fascia lata and gracilis. CONCLUSION: The study demonstrates a strong direct connection between the pyramidalis muscle and adductor longus tendon via the anterior pubic ligament, and it introduces the new anatomical concept of the pyramidalis-anterior pubic ligament-adductor longus complex (PLAC). Knowledge of these anatomical relationships should be employed to aid in image interpretation and treatment planning with proximal adductor avulsions. In particular, MRI imaging should be employed for all proximal adductor longus avulsions to assess the integrity of the PLAC
On bipartite -mixed graphs
Mixed graphs can be seen as digraphs with arcs and edges (or digons, that is,
two opposite arcs). In this paper, we consider the case where such graphs are
bipartite and in which the undirected and directed degrees are one. The best
graphs, in terms of the number of vertices, are presented for small diameters.
Moreover, two infinite families of such graphs with diameter and number of
vertices of the order of are proposed, one of them being totally
regular -mixed graphs. In addition, we present two more infinite
families called chordal ring and chordal double ring mixed graphs, which are
bipartite and related to tessellations of the plane. Finally, we give an upper
bound that improves the Moore bound for bipartite mixed graphs for

6AP and GA are potent inhibitors of yeast and mammalian prions and also specific inhibitors of PFAR, the protein-folding activity borne by domain V of the large rRNA of the large subunit of the ribosome. We therefore explored the link between PFAR and yeast prion [PSI(+)] using both PFAR-enriched mutants and site-directed methylation. We demonstrate that PFAR is involved in propagation and de novo formation of [PSI(+)]. PFAR and the yeast heat-shock protein Hsp104 partially compensate each other for [PSI(+)] propagation. Our data also provide insight into new functions for the ribosome in basal thermotolerance and heat-shocked protein refolding. PFAR is thus an evolutionarily conserved cell component implicated in the prion life cycle, and we propose that it could be a potential therapeutic target for human protein misfolding diseases
