Thinking with darkmatter: Re-routing race in the networks of info-capitalism
In the form of a discussion the founding editors of darkmatter journal reflect on the challenges of developing an online race project in the neoliberal context of knowledge production. The independent open access journal, operating at the borders of academia, attempts to grasp the shifting contours of contemporary race and racism in a networked postcolonial world. Against the limitations of solely working within disciplines such as Postcolonial or Cultural Studies, darkmatter brings into dialogue a diverse range of conceptual frameworks to address the proliferation of race discourses. Interrogating and reworking the developments in digital publishing, the project constructs a space for the exploration and dissemination of race thinking and creating relations between different fields, sites and groups. The threats posed by the info-colonialism of corporate
academic publishing are transversed through the evolution of darkmatter with its experiments in techno-cultural design and innovations in autonomous working practices
Chemical potential in disordered organic materials
Charge carrier mobility in disordered organic materials is being actively
studied, motivated by several applications such as organic light emitting
diodes and organic field-effect transistors. It is known that the mobility in
disordered organic materials depends on the chemical potential which in turn
depends on the carrier concentration. However, the functional dependence of
chemical potential on the carrier concentration is not known. In this study, we
focus on the chemical potential in organic materials with Gaussian disorder. We
identify three cases of non-degenerate, degenerate and saturated regimes. In
each regime we calculate analytically the chemical potential as a function of
the carrier concentration and the energetic disorder from the first principles.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
The Indian Economy Since Liberalisation: the Structure and Composition of Exports and Industrial Transformation (1980 – 2000)
This paper assesses empirically structural change in the Indian manufacturing based export sector, based on an analysis of 143 industries / product groupings (mainly manufacturing industries). Trade indices such as Balassa´s revealed comparative advantage (RCA) index, and other variants commonly employed in the literature are used in our analysis. Regression analysis on the RSCA indices is used to further analyse structural change. Thereafter, the stability of the RCA indices is examined, as well as the process of their intertemporal evolution. Three technology categories (high technology, medium technology and low technology) are examined individually and SITC product codes are used as proxies for export industries, in order to look at industry movements within each of these groups. This analysis enables us to assess the export performance of Indian industries in the selected product-industry groupings in detail and evaluate the prospects for growth of particular Indian industrial groupings
Structural, Electrical Properties and Dielectric Relaxation in Na+ Ion Conducting Solid Polymer Electrolyte
Present paper reports, the structural, microstructural, electrical,
dielectric properties and ion dynamics of a sodium based solid polymer
electrolyte films comprising of PEO8-NaPF6+ x wt. % SN. The structural and
surface morphology properties have been investigated by XRD and FESEM.
Different microscopic interaction among the polymer, salt and SN have been
analyzed through FTIR. The dielectric permittivity and loss tangent enable us
to estimate the dc conductivity, dielectric strength, double layer capacitance,
and relaxation time. The loss tangent relaxation peak shifts towards
high-frequency side which indicates the decrease of relaxation time and faster
ion dynamics. Further, the relation among various relaxation times ...... has
been developed systematically. The ionic conductivity has been estimated in
whole frequency window including JPL and displays strong dependency on SN
content. The sigma representation ........ has been introduced for exploring
the ion dynamics by highlighting the dispersion region in Cole-Cole plot
(........) at lower frequency window and increase in the radius of semicircle
indicates a decrease of relaxation time. A well convincing/logical scheme has
been proposed which justify the recorded experimental data
