    This study presents an importance-performance analysis of multi-level attributes (event, facility and destination) evaluated by delegates attending an exhibition event in a ‘complex meetings, incentive, convention or exhibition (MICE) venue’ in greater China (mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan). The study's findings expound the relevance of various attributes in light of the emergence of complex MICE venues and destination resorts and, in particular, emphasizes the relative importance of destination – vis-à-vis facility – and core event-related attributes towards determining exhibition attendance

    Charged particle production has been measured in deep inelastic scattering (DIS) events over a large range of xx and Q2Q^2 using the ZEUS detector. The evolution of the scaled momentum, xpx_p, with Q2,Q^2, in the range 10 to 1280 GeV2GeV^2, has been investigated in the current fragmentation region of the Breit frame.     Extensive experimental data from high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions were recorded using the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The comprehensive set of measurements from the first three years of RHIC operation includes charged particle multiplicities, transverse energy, yield ratios and spectra of identified hadrons in a wide range of transverse momenta (p_T), elliptic flow, two-particle correlations, non-statistical fluctuations, and suppression of particle production at high p_T. The results are examined with an emphasis on implications for the formation of a new state of dense matter. We find that the state of matter created at RHIC cannot be described in terms of ordinary color neutral hadrons.Comment: 510 authors, 127 pages text, 56 figures, 1 tables, LaTeX.     Measurement of dijet photoproduction for events with a leading neutron at HERA

    Differential cross sections for dijet photoproduction and this process in association with a leading neutron, e+ + p -> e+ + jet + jet + X (+ n), have been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 40 pb-1. The fraction of dijet events with a leading neutron was studied as a function of different jet and event variables. Single- and double-differential cross sections are presented as a function of the longitudinal fraction of the proton momentum carried by the leading neutron, xL, and of its transverse momentum squared, pT^2. The dijet data are compared to inclusive DIS and photoproduction results; they are all consistent with a simple pion-exchange model. The neutron yield as a function of xL was found to depend only on the fraction of the proton beam energy going into the forward region, independent of the hard process. No firm conclusion can be drawn on the presence of rescattering effects.Comment: 40 pages, 18 figure

    Scoring environmental credentials: a review of UK conference and meetings venues using the GREENER VENUE framework

    This paper investigates frameworks to conceptualise, monitor and compare corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance at individual conference venues, and provides a new comparative framework that organises and communicates information detailing business performance on 10 environmental policy initiatives (EPIs) (expressed by the acronym "GREENER") using a CSR scale (expressed by the acronym "VENUE"). This GREENER VENUE framework reduces the gap in the CSR literature by accentuating discretionary practices, and by exhibiting conceptual and psychometric properties enabling the framework's application to broad and diverse contexts. Its use is grounded in theory: the framework is practical, simple to implement, easily understandable and highly relatable. Applying the GREENER VENUE framework to data collected via a self-administered internet questionnaire of 191 UK conference and meeting venues reveals that the biggest groups of such venues are classified as "Eager" on a rising scale from Eternal denial (11%), through Unmotivated (16%), to Nonchalant (30%) and so to Eager (36%), and finally, the top group, Venerated (7%). The paper also investigates the relative influence of all 10 EPI variables of the GREENER measure - considered simultaneously - towards enhancing firms' behaviour on an inventory of 18 well-known environmental best practices (EBPIs). © 2013 Taylor & Francis

    AbstractThe small polypeptides present in the pea photosystem II reaction centre complex have been separated by high-resolution SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and characterised by N-terminal amino acid sequencing. Two polypeptides are identified as the α- and β-subunits of cytochrome b559 which are the products of the pdbE and psbF genes. A third polypeptide, of 4.5 kDA, is identified as the product of a small open reading frame in chloroplast DNA. The gene for this polypeptide , psbI, is located just downstream of the psbK gene chloroplast DNA

    We have prepared a monoclonal antibody which recognises an antigenic determinant on D-dimer, a specific fragment resulting from the degradation of crosslinked fibrin. This antibody has been used in the development of an enzyme-linked immunoassay for D dimer and related degradation products containing crosslinked gamma-gamma chains, to provide a simple assay of circulating crosslinked fibrin degradation products suitable for clinical use. Since these crosslinked fibrin degradation products are characteristic of fibrinolysis, as distinct from fibrinogenolysis, their measurement should aid in the diagnosis, evaluation and monitoring of thrombotic and thrombolytic states. In preliminary studies, low concentrations of crosslinked fibrin derivatives were detected in normal sera. High levels were found in 30/30 patients with disseminated intravascular coagulation and in the majority of patients having deep venous thrombosis or pulmonary embolism
