A role for topographic cues in the organization of collagenous matrix by corneal fibroblasts and stem cells

Human corneal fibroblasts (HCF) and corneal stromal stem cells (CSSC) each secrete and organize a thick stroma-like extracellular matrix in response to different substrata, but neither cell type organizes matrix on tissue-culture polystyrene. This study compared cell differentiation and extracellular matrix secreted by these two cell types when they were cultured on identical substrata, polycarbonate Transwell filters. After 4 weeks in culture, both cell types upregulated expression of genes marking differentiated keratocytes (KERA, CHST6, AQP1, B3GNT7). Absolute expression levels of these genes and secretion of keratan sulfate proteoglycans were significantly greater in CSSC than HCF. Both cultures produced extensive extracellular matrix of aligned collagen fibrils types I and V, exhibiting cornea-like lamellar structure. Unlike HCF, CSSC produced little matrix in the presence of serum. Construct thickness and collagen organization was enhanced by TGF-β3. Scanning electron microscopic examination of the polycarbonate membrane revealed shallow parallel grooves with spacing of 200-300 nm, similar to the topography of aligned nanofiber substratum which we previously showed to induce matrix organization by CSSC. These results demonstrate that both corneal fibroblasts and stromal stem cells respond to a specific pattern of topographical cues by secreting highly organized extracellular matrix typical of corneal stroma. The data also suggest that the potential for matrix secretion and organization may not be directly related to the expression of molecular markers used to identify differentiated keratocytes. © 2014 Karamichos et al

Movements in the liturgy are an important part of a celebration of faith. The same or uniform body posture depicts the unity of the people who are gathered to celebrate the liturgical celebration. However, in reality there are still many people who do not follow the correct and appropriate body postures and movements when participating in liturgical celebrations. This problem then became the concern of the universal Church. Pope Francis published the apostolic letter Desiderio Desideravi with the intention of providing instructions or signals for contemplation of the beauty and truth of the Eucharistic celebration. Based on these problems, the formulation of the problem in writing this thesis is: What is the role of catechesis in increasing the understanding of the parishioners of Saint John Pemandi Naesleu regarding body posture and liturgical movements in the light of Desiderio Desideravi? The purpose of writing this thesis is to determine the understanding of the parishioners of Saint John Pemandi Naesleu regarding bodily postures and liturgical movements, to understand the role of catechesis in increasing the congregation's understanding of the attitudes and movements of the liturgy, and to understand the appreciation of the ParishionersSt. John the Bath of Naesleu on bodily postures and liturgical movements in the light of Desiderio Desideravi. The model used in this research is a descriptive model with qualitative research methods. Qualitative research is a research method used to examine objects of social phenomena that occur naturally, where researchers will analyze data obtained from the field based on data collection techniques, namely interviews, observation and documentation. Based on the results of observations and interviews, researchers found that the understanding of St. Yohanes Pemandi Naesleu regarding body posture and liturgical movements before carrying out catechesis is still very lacking. Even though in participating in the liturgical celebration, all the people are actively involved. However, after the implementation of catechesis, the people were interviewed again, the people's answers showed that the people's understanding had increased and was much better than the previous answers. From the entire description above, it can be concluded that the congregation's understanding of body postures and liturgical movements can increase if catechesis activities are carried out continuously specifically regarding body postures and liturgical movements

Background: Obesity in type 2 diabetes patients is a serious health issue by itself; it is also associated with other health problems including psychiatric illnesses. The psychological effects of dieting and weight loss have been a matter of controversy in the field of obesity management. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the impact of weight loss because of aerobic exercise training and dietary measures on psychological wellbeing and biochemical modulation in obese type 2 diabetes patients.Material and methods: One hundred obese type 2 diabetes patients of both sexes participated in this study, and were included into two equal groups. The first group (A) received aerobic exercise training, three sessions per week for three months combined with dietary measures. The second group (B) received no training intervention for three months. Results: There was a significant decrease in body mass index (BMI), leptin, total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c), triglycerides(TG), homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance- index (HOMA-IR) , beck depression inventory (BDI ) & profile of mood states(POMS) and increase in high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) & Rosenberg self-esteem scale (RSES) of group (A) after treatments, but the changes of group (B) were not significant. Moreover, there were significant differences between mean levels of the investigated parameters of group (B) and group (A) at the end of the study. Conclusion: Physical training and dietary measures can be used as methods of choice for psychological wellbeing and biochemical modulation in obese type 2 diabetes patients. Keywords: Obesity; type 2 diabetes, aerobic exercise training, dietary measures, psychological wellbeing
