    The future of pharmacogenetics in the treatment of heart failure

    Heart failure is a common disease with high levels of morbidity and mortality. Current treatment comprises β-blockers, ACE inhibitors, aldosterone antagonists and diuretics. Variation in clinical response seen in patients begs the question of whether there is a pharmacogenetic component yet to be identified. To date, the genes most studied involve the β-1, β-2, α-2 adrenergic receptors and the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone pathway, mainly focusing on SNPs. However results have been inconsistent. Genome-wide association studies and next-generation sequencing are seen as alternative approaches to discovering genetic variations influencing drug response. Hopefully future research will lay the foundations for genotype-led drug management in these patients with the ultimate aim of improving their clinical outcome.</p

    Quality control and beam test of GEM detectors for future upgrades of the CMS muon high rate region at the LHC

    Gas Electron Multipliers (GEM) are a proven position sensitive gas detector technology which nowadays is becoming more widely used in High Energy Physics. GEMs offer an excellent spatial resolution and a high particle rate capability, with a close to 100% detection efficiency. In view of the high luminosity phase of the CERN Large Hadron Collider, these aforementioned features make GEMs suitable candidates for the future upgrades of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector. In particular, the CMS GEM Collaboration proposes to cover the high-eta region of the muon system with large-area triple-GEM detectors, which have the ability to provide robust and redundant tracking and triggering functions. In this contribution, after a general introduction and overview of the project, the construction of full-size trapezoidal triple-GEM prototypes will be described in more detail. The procedures for the quality control of the GEM foils, including gain uniformity measurements with an x-ray source will be presented. In the past few years, several CMS triple-GEM prototype detectors were operated with test beams at the CERN SPS. The results of these test beam campaigns will be summarised

    This study aims to determine the extent of the impact of the relationship when the knowledge gap mediates between the ramifications of conflict and outputs quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training TVET, and to verify the implications of the armed conflict directly and indirectly of in TVET outputs quality in Yemen. This study was based on a mixed methodology quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative study sample was taken in a probabilistic way. The sample consists of (615) respondents, including (60) teachers, (66) employees, and (489) students. Exploratory Factor Analysis EFA was performed used SPSS. The was used Program AMOS to perform confirmatory factor analysis CFA, and by the structural equation modeling (SEM) was analyzed the path of relations between the study variables, checking all kinds of validity, and compound reliability. The qualitative study relied on interviews with (15) academics and employees who are affiliated with TVET and They act represent 3 them focus groups. The study concluded the following results: There is a direct negative relationship between the knowledge gap and TVET outputs quality. This relationship decreases when the knowledge gap mediates between the Ramifications of conflict and TVET outputs quality. and this means that the mediator here is a partial mediator. The results of the study also showed a direct positive relationship between the repercussions of armed conflicts and the knowledge gap

    Implementation of Klassen Typology in Mapping of Superior Commodities of Food Crops in The Malolo Agropolitan Area

    The Malolo agropolitan area is a strategic food crop production center in Takalar. The implementation of klassen tipology is used to identify superior commodities with export value from food plants cultivated by farmers in the area. This study aims to determine the superior commodities of food crops using klassen typology and to map these superior commodities in the Malolo Agropolitan Area. The analytical methods used were klassen typology and Ar-GIS mapping. The results showed that the implementation of klassen typology on food commodities in the Agropolitan Malolo area resulted in maize as the only superior commodity out of 4 other food commodities. Maize is a leading commodity in 4 areas that is Massamaturu, Timbuseng, Barugaya, and Towata. Mapping results show that 4 areas are superior commodity development, 11 areas for mainstry commodity development, 37 areas for prospective commodity development, and 38 areas for slow commodity development

    Optimasi Produksi Enzim Lipase Dari Isolat Aspergillus oryzae

    Production optimization of lipase enzyme from Aspergillus oryzae isolate on moldy copra has been conducted. Enzyme isolation is carried out after the fungi is activated and cultured on media containing peptone and olive oil at 370C in temperature and 7,0 in pH during 8 days. Production optimization of lipase enzyme is conducted by varying composition of production media, namely: peptone concentration and olive oil and optimal stirring speed. The study results showed that activity of the highest lipase enzyme is acquired on pepton concentration of 1 %, olive oil concentration of 3 % and the stirring speed is 150 rpm. Of concentration optimization of production media and stirring speed is acquired that there is an increasing activity of the lipase enzyme from 13.222 U/mL to 18888U/mL
