GARCON - Genetic Algorithm for Rectangular Cuts OptimizatioN.
We will present Genetic Algorithm for Rectangular Cuts OptimizatioN (GARCON) program and demonstrate its functionality on a simple HEP analysis example. The program automatically performs rectangular cuts optimization and verification for stability in a multi-dimensional cuts phase space. The program has been successfully used by a number of different analyses presented in the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS collaboration) Physics Technical Design Report (Large Hadron Collider (LHC), CERN, Geneva, Switzerland), corresponding results are also published in a number of papers in 2006
Wang Bi\u27s Annotation on Laozi\u27s Place in China and Japan: Focusing on Ogyu Sorai
Wang Bi\u27s Annotation on Laozi 『老子』王弼注 is considered one of the representative notes on Laozi. In Chinahowever, it was not until 1781 when this book was included in Sikuquanshu 『四庫全書』 that the study of Wang Bi\u27s note became popular. In Japan, while Wang Bi\u27s note was introduced before the 5th century, it received rare recognition until Okada Touin\u27s Laozi Daodejing Annotated by Wang Bi 岡田東贇 『老子道徳経王弼注』 published in 1734. However, further research reveals that Ogyu Sorai 荻生徂徠 had pointed out in Keishishiyohran 『経子史要覧』 that, in reading Laozi from the view of classical rhetoric 古文辞学 Wang Bi\u27s annotation should be referred to. Keishishiyohran was based on Sorai\u27s dictation before 1728, and it was earlier than both Okada Touin\u27s Laozi Annotated by Wang Bi (1734) and Sikuquanshu (1781). Therefore< judging from evidences currently available, it seems fair to conclude that Sorai was the pioneer who introduced Wang Bi\u27s annotation into the field of Laozi studies
The Road Towards the ILC: Higgs, Top/QCD, Loops
The International Linear e+e- Collider (ILC) could go into operation in the
second half of the upcoming decade. Experimental analyses and theory
calculations for the physics at the ILC are currently performed. We review
recent progress, as presented at the LCWS06 in Bangalore, India, in the fields
of Higgs boson physics and top/QCD. Also the area of loop calculations,

Gluino Pair Production at Linear e^+e^- Colliders
We study the potential of high-energy linear colliders for the
production of gluino pairs within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model
(MSSM). In this model, the process is mediated by
quark/squark loops, dominantly of the third generation, where the mixing of
left- and right-handed states can become large. Taking into account realistic
beam polarization effects, photon and -boson exchange, and current mass
exclusion limits, we scan the MSSM parameter space for various
center-of-mass energies to determine the regions, where gluino production

Preparation and characterization of thin films derived from polyelectrolyte-surfactant complexes based on cationic polymer - JR-400 and anionic surfactant - sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate
Threshold resummation for high-transverse-momentum Higgs production at the LHC
We study the resummation of large logarithmic QCD corrections for the process
pp ->H+ X when the Higgs boson H is produced at high transverse momentum. The
corrections arise near the threshold for partonic reaction and originate from
soft gluon emission. We perform the all-order resummation at next-to-leading
logarithmic accuracy and match the resummed result with the next-to-leading
order perturbative predictions. The effect of resummation on the Higgs
transverse momentum distribution at the LHC is discussed.Comment: 19 pages, 3 figure
MSSM Higgs bosons associated with high-pT jets at hadron colliders
The cross section for the production of the lightest neutral Higgs boson in
association with a high-pT hadronic jet, calculated in the framework of the
minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), is presented. The expectations
for the hadronic cross section at the Large Hadron Collider are discussed using
reasonable kinematical cuts. In particular the contributions from superpartner
loops to the cross section and their dependence on the parameters of the MSSM
are investigated and found to be significant. Comparisons show that the
production rate for h0 + jet in the MSSM can differ widely from the
corresponding standard-model prediction.Comment: 20 page
Tevatron-for-LHC Report: Preparations for Discoveries
This is the "TeV4LHC" report of the "Physics Landscapes" Working Group,
focused on facilitating the start-up of physics explorations at the LHC by
using the experience gained at the Tevatron. We present experimental and
theoretical results that can be employed to probe various scenarios for physics

Giant QCD K-factors beyond NLO
Hadronic observables in Z+jet events can be subject to large NLO corrections
at TeV scales, with K-factors that even reach values of order 50 in some cases.
We develop a method, LoopSim, by which approximate NNLO predictions can be
obtained for such observables, supplementing NLO Z+jet and NLO Z+2-jet results
with a unitarity-based approximation for missing higher loop terms. We first
test the method against known NNLO results for Drell-Yan lepton pt spectra. We
then show our approximate NNLO results for the Z+jet observables. Finally we
examine whether the LoopSim method can provide useful information even in cases
without giant K-factors, with results for observables in dijet events that can
