A Modified Vector Space Model For Protein Retrieval.
This paper provides an enhancement of an existing method
of information retrieval which is a modification of Vector Space Model for information retrieval. This enhanced model is
modified to be applied on protein sequence data whereas the
normal vector space model has been applied on text data. The
results show that the enhanced model achieved very good results in performance but the setup time is somehow high for a large collection of protein sequence
Harmony search algorithms for ab initio protein tertiary structure prediction.
Predicting the tertiary structure of proteins from their linear sequence is really a big challenge in biology. This thesis considers the ab initio protein tertiary structure prediction. The Harmony Search Algorithm (HSA) has been adapted for the protein structure prediction by modeling the problem as an optimization problem. HSA has obtained feasible solutions but not as magnificent as those reported in the literature
A robust method for detecting fake news using both machine and deep learning algorithms
Spreading fake news and false information on social media is very common and can be done effortlessly due to the huge number of users of each of the various social media platforms. Another reason for having such a speedy spread of fake news (which makes about 40% of the information published on social media platforms) is the inability of these platform to verify the authenticity of the news before allowing it to be published. This research will use information technology to detect fake news/ false information and change this kind of technology from being the cause of the problem to a tool to solve it. This research provides a method that uses both machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) algorithms to detect fake information versus real information and compare the performance of the algorithms. The results of this research indicate that the algorithms that use term frequency inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) have achieved better results than the algorithms that use Word2Vec. Long short-term memory (LSTM) algorithm, however, has achieved the best performance; of 99% accuracy -when using TF-IDF, and 94% -when using Word2Vec
Hierarchical approach for fatigue cracking performance evaluation in asphalt pavements
In this paper, a hierarchical approach is proposed for the evaluation of fatigue cracking in asphalt concrete pavements considering three different levels of complexities in the representation of the material behaviour, design parameters characterization and the determination of the pavement response as well as damage computation. Based on the developed hierarchical approach, three damage computation levels are identified and proposed. The levels of fatigue damage analysis provides pavement engineers a variety of tools that can be used for pavement analysis depending on the availability of data, required level of prediction accuracy and computational power at their disposal. The hierarchical approach also provides a systematic approach for the understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of pavement deterioration, the elimination of the empiricism associated with pavement design today and the transition towards the use of sound principles of mechanics in pavement analysis and design
AN ANALYSIS TO THE TRAVELLING WAVE SOLUTION OF A DIFFUSIVE MODEL OF AN EPIDEMIC

An SIR model of an epidemic with spatial spread is considered, an equilibrium and stability analysis has been done and then the behavior to the travelling wave solution of the model is obtained.
