The explanation, in part, is that plays are often only published after successful productions, and the plays by the majority of black women have only been produced in local, small theaters. Consequently, their works have not been given serious critical attention. PERSEPSI TAMU HOTEL TERHADAP PROGRAM SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT DALAM MENCIPTAKAN CORPORATE REPUTATION DI NOVOTEL BANDUNG

Pada era globalisasi saat ini sangat penting bagi suatu perusahaan untuk menciptakan corporate reputation dalam suatu organisasi dalam hal ini industri perhotelan agar dipandang baik dalam persepsi tamu. Pentingnya reputasi hotel yang positif karena dapat menjadi alat komunikasi yang efektif antara hotel dan tamu. Corporate reputation terdiri dari credibility, reliability dan responsibility. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi persepsi tamu hotel ini berkaitan dengan komitmen yang kuat pada tamu hotel dalam niat mengunjungi dan menginap di hotel. Kinerja pemasaran di berbagai industri mengacu pada orientasi lingkungan, dimana perusahaan mulai menerapkan isu-isu lingkungan, ekonomi dan sosial di masyarakat sebagai salah satu strategi pemasarannya tak terkecuali pada industri perhotelan. Industri perhotelan yang menjalankan kinerja pemasaran seperti ini di Negara berkembang termasuk Indonesia menunjukan pertumbuhan yang meningkat. Bukti nyata adanya dampak perkembangan dalam industri perhotelan yakni bermunculannya hotel yang berorientasi pada lingkungan termasuk di Kota Bandung. Salah satu kinerja pemasaran yang dilakukan di Novotel Bandung ialah program sustainable development yang terdiri dari environmental, economic dan social. Program jangka panjang tersebut tentu akan berdampak kepada reputasi perusahaan yang menjalankannya. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dan verifikatif. Responden penelitian ini adalah tamu yang menginap di Novotel Bandung. Dengan penyebaran angket sebanyak 106 tamu hotel. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah Regresi Linear Berganda. Variabel independent dalam penelitian ini yaitu Sustainable Development yang terdiri dari environmental (X1), economic (X2) dan social (X3), variable dependent yaitu Corporate Reputation (Y). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa persepsi tamu hotel terhadap program Sustainable Development berada di kategori tinggi dalam menciptakan Corporate Reputation di Novotel Bandung. Effects of biofouling on shellfish aquaculture

The culture of oysters, clams, scallops, and other molluscs is collectively one of the fastest growing sectors of the aquaculture industry. An inherent issue with shellfish culture methods, particularly for off-bottom culture (i.e. floating trays, racks, long lines, strings, rafts), is biofouling. This can occur directly, by biofouling of the animals themselves, or indirectly, by fouling of cages, nets, filters, and other equipment. Problematic biofouling species have been identified and segmented into six groups: algae, barnacles, mussels, tubeworms, ascidians and hydroids. Controlling and mitigating biofouling can result in significant costs for commercial shellfish culture operations

Aquaculture or fish farming is a developing industry in Nigeria with potentials to make significant contribution to food security, livelihood, socioeconomic status, and the nation's economy. The aquaculture industry has grown substantially the last decades, both as a result of the over-fishing of wild fish populations, and because of the increasing consumer demand for fish meat. Oyster production around the world is becoming a growing industry since natural production is decreasing. The main species used for culture belong to Crassostrea genus and are in use for aquaculture. The native mangrove oysters are an important group of shellfish, exploited along the coasts and estuaries where they are naturally found. Mangrove oysters are found naturally in abundance in the brackish water creeks of Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers states, attached to the aerial roots of red mangrove vegetation, Rhizophora racemosa

News framing and ethnic conflicts vulnerability in multiethnic societies

The springboard of conflicts in most multiethnic African societies have been alluded to the media and ethnic group leaders, however much attention has not been directed at these helixes.More so that there is a new strong concern about the increasing cases of ethnic conflicts being stimulated by dramatic surge in intolerant expressions, the hardening of ethno-political positions and the proliferation of ethnic militias that have unleashed varying degrees of violence and terror on the polity while the government interventions appeared ineffective.This motivates the main objective of this study which goes beyond understanding the immediate motives for ethnic conflicts in Nigeria but to discover the mainsprings of ethnic conflict behaviour in relation to the roles of newspaper framing and ethnic groups’ attitudes alongside a long lasting solutions.Therefore, series of accusations against the Nigeria newspapers by the ethnic group leaders lead us to understand that the media are indeed insensitive on the issues of ethnic conflict. Also, that from bias framing of ethnic issues, newspapers have enormous power in setting ethnic differences which shape conflict behaviour. Another salient but veiled influences emanating from the findings are the ethnic consciousness and intolerance that have continued to impede the relationship among ethnic groups as well as progress of Nigeria. Due to high level intolerance for each other, every action and inaction is given ethnic coloration as a result conflict ensue. Meanwhile, both government and media self-regulation should be strengthened to curb the excesses that stimulate ethnic conflicts.Hence, how the newspaper presents news of ethnic issues should be a direction for future research

Work-family Balance: A Case Analysis of Coping Strategies Adopted by Nigerian and British Working Mothers.

Purpose – Given the reality that working mothers experience difficulties in achieving work-family balance as a result of the social restrictions that arise from parenting combined with career goals, this article explores the various coping strategies that are employed by working mothers in the cities of London (Great Britain) and Lagos (Nigeria). Methodology – Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 72 mothers who worked in banks in London (Great Britain) and Lagos (Nigeria). Thematic analysis and investigator triangulation are used. Findings – The findings reveal various coping strategies that are used by working mothers in the cities of Lagos and London. The article also unearths the efficiency and the shortcomings of the use of au pairs among British working mothers and the similarities and disparities of such use compared to the traditional use of housekeepers in Nigeria. Originality/value – This article contributes to existing work-family balance literature by exploring coping strategies of working mothers as a result of socio-cultural and institutional differences in Great Britain and Nigeria
