A brief review of the literature on the malignant ureteral obstruction
Malignant ureteral obstruction (MUO) caused by a primarily urological tumor or secondary to a late-stage malignancy can be difficult for the urologist to manage. Due to a lack of clinical data on the management of MUO, every case is particular and should be aborted individually.
Lack of specific treatment, either palliative or definitive, can severely damage renal function and lifetime expectancy in patients, causing even more damage that could otherwise be avoided.
Prompt management directed at the recovery of renal function is the main goal in such cases. Even after urinary flow is restored, life threatening post-obstructive diuresis needs to be managed
Pitfalls in scalp high-frequency oscillation detection from long-term EEG monitoring
Aims: Intracranially recorded high-frequency oscillations (>80 Hz) are considered a
candidate epilepsy biomarker. Recent studies claimed their detectability on the scalp
surface. We aimed to investigate the applicability of high-frequency oscillation analysis
to routine surface EEG obtained at an epilepsy monitoring unit.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed surface EEGs of 18 patients with focal epilepsy
and six controls, recorded during sleep under maximal medication withdrawal. As a
proof of principle, the occurrence of motor task-related events during wakefulness
was analyzed in a subsample of six patients with seizure- or syncope-related
motor symptoms. Ripples (80–250 Hz) and fast ripples (>250 Hz) were identified by
semi-automatic detection. Using semi-parametric statistics, differences in spontaneous
and task-related occurrence rates were examined within subjects and between
diagnostic groups considering the factors diagnosis, brain region, ripple type, and
task condition.
Results: We detected high-frequency oscillations in 17 out of 18 patients and in
four out of six controls. Results did not show statistically significant differences in the
mean rates of event occurrences, neither regarding the laterality of the epileptic focus,
nor with respect to active and inactive task conditions, or the moving hand laterality.
Significant differences in general spontaneous incidence [WTS(1) = 9.594; p = 0.005]
that indicated higher rates of fast ripples compared to ripples, notably in patients with
epilepsy compared to the control group, may be explained by variations in data quality.
Conclusion: The current analysis methods are prone to biases. A common agreement
on a standard operating procedure is needed to ensure reliable and economic detection

EDUCATION THROUGH INNOVATION IN THE FIELD OF METALLIC MATERIALS SCIENCE
The importance of the innovation process lies in its main functions, those of generating and leading to the conception and development of new processes and products, based on creativity. Hence the need of education for innovation. In this article we present, for a start, the main stages of an innovation process. Then, elements of innovation management, innovation strategies, innovation activities. We also present aspects regarding the financing of the innovation process and of the technology transfer. As results of the efficient application of these theoretical elements specific to an innovation process, we present the main elements of a patent (Invention Patent no. 107025/1993) of one of the authors. This patent, entitled "Burner" has gone through all stages, from conception to implementation in industry. An idiographic analysis of women's accounts of living with mental health conditions in Haredi Jewish communities.
This research examines the reported experiences of women who developed mental health conditions while they were members of Haredi Jewish communities. The research focuses on how their communities responded and how these responses affected their self-evaluations and relationships with their communities. A qualitative, idiographic approach was used. Four women were recruited through mental health charities and an online group for former community members. The women were interviewed and transcripts were subjected to Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. Three cross-case themes were developed: "The negative evaluation of mental health conditions in Haredi communities", "'Cloak and dagger': Secrecy and consequences of mental health problems in Haredi communities" and "Going and staying: Mental health experiences and changed relationships with Haredism/Judaism". The themes are discussed in terms of stigma and the threat posed to Haredi communities' self-understanding and self-presentation by the women voicing their mental health status within and outside the communities

Patients diagnosed with AMkL have low overall survival and have poor outcome to treatment, thus novel therapies such as CAR T cell therapy could represent an alternative in treating AMkL. We investigated the effect of a new CAR T cell which targets CD41, a specific surface antigen for M7-AMkL, against an in vitro model for AMkL, DAMI Luc2 cell line. The performed flow cytometry evaluation highlighted a percentage of 93.8% CAR T cells eGFP-positive and a limited acute effect on lowering the target cell population. However, the interaction between effector and target (E:T) cells, at a low ratio, lowered the cell membrane integrity, and reduced the M7-AMkL cell population after 24 h of co-culture, while the cytotoxic effect was not significant in groups with higher E:T ratio. Our findings suggest that the anti-CD41 CAR T cells are efficient for a limited time spawn and the cytotoxic effect is visible in all experimental groups with low E:T ratio.Peer reviewe
The psychological science accelerator’s COVID-19 rapid-response dataset
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Psychological Science Accelerator coordinated three large-scale psychological studies to examine the effects of loss-gain framing, cognitive reappraisals, and autonomy framing manipulations on behavioral intentions and affective measures. The data collected (April to October 2020) included specific measures for each experimental study, a general questionnaire examining health prevention behaviors and COVID-19 experience, geographical and cultural context characterization, and demographic information for each participant. Each participant started the study with the same general questions and then was randomized to complete either one longer experiment or two shorter experiments. Data were provided by 73,223 participants with varying completion rates. Participants completed the survey from 111 geopolitical regions in 44 unique languages/dialects. The anonymized dataset described here is provided in both raw and processed formats to facilitate re-use and further analyses. The dataset offers secondary analytic opportunities to explore coping, framing, and self-determination across a diverse, global sample obtained at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which can be merged with other time-sampled or geographic data
