    The burgeoning field of metal-organic frameworks or porous coordination polymers has received increasing interest in recent years. In the last decade these microporous materials have found several applications including storage and separation of gases, sensors, catalysis and functional materials. In order to better design new metal-organic frameworks and porous coordination polymers with specific functionalities a fundamental issue is to achieve a basic understanding of the relationship between molecular parameters and structures, preferred adsorption sites and properties by using using modern theoretical methods.     O seguinte estudo teve por objetivo avaliar o aproveitamento prático de atividades lúdicas e recursos audiovisuais para o aprendizado dos alunos, procurando usar o equilíbrio desses recursos além dos tradicionais numa tentativa de sanar algumas dificuldades existentes no processo de ensino-aprendizado: tais como: motivação , dificuldades de assimilação dos conteúdos, interação etc. As atividades aqui propostas foram realizadas na Escola Estadual Antônio Gomes na cidade de João Câmara-RN, em uma turma de 1ª Série do ensino médio. Os materiais foram confeccionados por nós mesmos e a professora Luciana Bernardo, de acordo com a proposição do professor, que nos acolheu em sala de aula e fontes bibliográficas como internet e livros propondo maneiras lúdicas de abordar determinado conteúdo. Como atividades focaram estudo de vocabulário, ora por meio de músicas, ora por jogos, como também atividades que revisassem esses vocabulários para estudos de gramaticais. O professor deve procurar maneiras de aproximar de maneira mais individual, personalizada o conhecimento do aluno, para que ele se torne sujeito de sua aprendizagem. Nosso projeto envolveu mais os alunos com o conteúdo, e a assistência externa dada à sala foi importante para o melhor aproximar o educador do educando

    Content Analysis of English 101&102 Courses, Scientific Section at the Faculty of Education, Sana’a University

    The present study aimed to evaluate English 101 and 102 textbooks of the Scientific Section at Faculty of Education, Sana’a University in order to 1) see the extent to which they correspond to the objectives prescribed in the courses descriptions by the curriculum designers in the Faculty of Education, Sana’a University and 2) check the suitability of the textbooks based on the standards of a comprehensive well- designed EFL textbook from the points highlighted in the data instrument. This study was a quantitative descriptive study. To achieve these objectives, a ready- made checklist instrument was adopted for measurement. The sample was 101 and 102 textbooks. To attain the data objectively, the checklist was handed to 10 raters including the researcher. Then, data was analyzed statistically using SPSS has been used to analyze the data. The findings of the checklist data analysis revealed that the textbooks are in correspondence with the objectives of the faculty. It is also found that the overall judgment for the textbooks is estimated as Good. The study recommended that certain modifications has to be taken into account to remedy such shortcomings.</jats:p

    Synthesis and Characterization of Terbium-Based Metal Organic Framework for Environmental Remediation Application

    In the present study, terbium-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) based on fcu topology, fcu-Tb- FTZB-MOF, was synthesized using 2-fluoro-4-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)benzoic acid (FTZB) as a linear ligand, and then was characterized using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis and to study the texture properties of the Tb-FTZB-MOF. The characterization results confirmed the successful synthesis of the high surface area Tb-FTZB-MOF (1220 m2/g). The synthesized Tb-FTZB-MOF was then applied as a catalytic adsorbent to remove direct violet 31 (DV31) dye as an example of organic pollutants, from a model and real solution. The effect of various operational parameters such as adsorbent loading, contact time, initial DV31 dye concentration, initial solution pH, different water matrix, temperature, and ionic strength have also been evaluated. Solution pH and temperature significantly influenced the adsorption of DV31 dye using Tb-FTZB-MOF, and the results should efficiently remove the DV31 dye at ambient temperature, and at pH value of 8.0 using 35 mg Tb-FTZB-MOF, within few minutes. The process was studied kinetically and found to follow the pseudo-second-order kinetic model, and thermodynamically the process was spontaneous, endothermic, with a positive entropy. Finally, the result showed that Tb-FTZB-MOF was able to adsorb a high percentage of DV31 dye and maintained reasonable efficiency even after five cycles, indicating that Tb-FTZB-MOF could be a promising adsorbent in wastewater remediation.</jats:p
