Aluminum alloy based metal matrix composite participate have a wider applications in wear resistance applications. Attempt made in current study is that, basalt fiber reinforced aluminum metal matrix composite have been prepared using stir casting method. Different weight percentage of basalt fiber reinforced with Al (6061) metal matrix composites are used to study the wear resistance of the composites. For wear study, percentage of reinforcement, normal load and sliding velocity are the considered as important parameters. To study the effect of basalt fiber reinforcement on the dry sliding wear of Al6061 alloy composites the Pin On wear tester is used. Initially hardness of the composites was tested, it was found that increasing reinforcement in the composite hardness value of the composites also increased. Based on the Grey relation analysis (GRA) the effects of wear resistance of the composites were studied

265-270In this study, the free vibration and dynamic mechanical properties of the surface modified basalt fiber reinforced polymer composites have been investigated. The surface modification of fiber has been carried out with 1N solution. Untreated, acid treated and base treated basalt fiber composites were prepared using Hand layup technique. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopes (FTIR) were used for the study of the effect of surface treatment on fibers. The natural frequencies and damping coefficient of the laminated composites have been analyzed using an impact hammer. The result showed better natural frequencies in the untreated basalt fiber composites than composites prepared with treated fiber. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) was also carried out to find the mechanical properties of the composites as a function of temperature, in this analysis also, Untreated basalt fiber composite were found to possesses good storage modulus, loss modulus and damping factor

: The application of flax fiber is vast in the various fields as textiles made from flax are known in the Western countries as linen, and traditionally used for bed sheets, underclothes, and table linen. The specific properties that are responsible for the potential platform to next-generation structural applications in automobile and other consumer works. Due to its mechanical properties, which elaborately specify the single flax, hybridization of fiber with the manmade and with natural flax. Ultimately, in the end of the paper, we discussed with the proportion evaluation to know about the amount of research undergone with flax fiber. To identify the further quantum of work to be done in the all of the areas in that 36% of work done on mechanical property, 30% in novel performance work like simulation and model analysis, 18% of work going on marine, aeronautical related applications and only 16% work carried out in structural related applications. From the literature study, the usage of flax fiber has lankness in a variety of applications in various fields. In the future, the flax fiber will reduce the utilization of synthetic fiber, by producing an eco-friendly environment in all type of products wherever replacement is possible. </jats:sec
