I arbeidet med å styrke arktisk maritim kompetanse skal det tas utgangspunkt i innmeldte problemstillinger, utfordringer og behov fra aktører i skipsfartsnæringen. Polarkoden stiller krav til særskilt opplæring av navigatører, men stiller ingen særskilte krav til generell kompetanseoppbygging for resten av mannskapet. Dette er uheldig fordi økt aktivitet i nordområdene medfører et tilsvarende større behov for arktisk maritim kompetanse. I denne sammenheng har departementet påpekt at det er ønskelig å koble utdanningsinstitusjoner tettere på industrien, slik at opplæringen i større grad tilfredsstiller de behovene som næringsaktørene har

    Homogenization and design of structures with optimal macroscopic behaviour

    Some types of structures with extreme effective properties are considered by means of the homogenization theory. We discuss the reiterated cell-structure which consists of m different micro-levels. Our numerical results indicate that the limit proven by Lukkassen [6] corresponding to the case 771 = 00 serves as a surprisingly good approximation of the effective properties for any value of m. In particular, this observation yields a simple approximate-formula for the classical coated rectangle-assemblages. Some applications are also presented; e.g. we discuss concrete examples of optimal design of core material in sandwich constructions.</p
