Spartan Release Engagement Mechanism (REM) stress and fracture analysis
The revised stress and fracture analysis of the Spartan REM hardware for current load conditions and mass properties is presented. The stress analysis was performed using a NASTRAN math model of the Spartan REM adapter, base, and payload. Appendix A contains the material properties, loads, and stress analysis of the hardware. The computer output and model description are in Appendix B. Factors of safety used in the stress analysis were 1.4 on tested items and 2.0 on all other items. Fracture analysis of the items considered fracture critical was accomplished using the MSFC Crack Growth Analysis code. Loads and stresses were obtaind from the stress analysis. The fracture analysis notes are located in Appendix A and the computer output in Appendix B. All items analyzed met design and fracture criteria
Curves and cycles on K3 surfaces
The notion of constant cycle curves on K3 surfaces is introduced. These are
curves that do not contribute to the Chow group of the ambient K3 surface.
Rational curves are the most prominent examples.
We show that constant cycle curves behave in some respects like rational
curves. E.g. using Hodge theory one finds that in each linear system there are
at most finitely many such curves of bounded order.
Over finite fields, any curve is expected to be a constant cycle curve,
whereas over number fields this does not hold. The relation to the
Bloch--Beilinson conjectures for K3 surfaces over global fields is discussed.Comment: 44 pages, minor revision, reference adde
Disproportionate Representation of Minorities in the Alaska Juvenile Justice System: Phase I Report
The disproportionate processing of minorities in the justice system has been noted with growing concern nationally as well as at the state level. In Alaska, as in other states, the primary basis for concern is that minorities are overrepresented among the adult prison population. The realization that this disproportionality appears in other justice system venues has led nationally to a number of research initiatives with a focus on the overrepresentation of juveniles. This report analyzes referral data from the Alaska Division of Family and Youth Services (DFYS) for 1992-1995 to provide a statistical overview of disproportionate minority contact in the Alaska juvenile justice system, providing comparative data for referrals of Alaska Native, African American, and white youth.Cook Inlet Region Inc.

Torsion order of smooth projective surfaces
To a smooth projective variety whose Chow group of -cycles is -universally trivial one can associate its torsion index ,
the smallest multiple of the diagonal appearing in a cycle-theoretic
decomposition \`a la Bloch-Srinivas. We show that is the
exponent of the torsion in the N\'eron-Severi-group of when is a
surface over an algebraically closed field , up to a power of the

Alaska Energy Statistics 1960-2011 Final Report
This twenty-sixth edition of the Alaska Energy Statistics reconciles energy data from public sources and makes that data more easily available to the public and stakeholders. It primarily presents 2011 data on electricity produced by certified utilities in Alaska. It includes a brief introduction, highlights, and summary data tables. The first major section describes basic statistical indicators for Alaska utilities, and the second discusses renewable energy in Alaska. After that we look more broadly at the big picture of energy in Alaska, describing production and consumption of various energy sources. A series of appendixes defines terms, lists references, and describes data sources.
This report presents data for the state and for the 11 Alaska Energy Authority energy regions. In an accompanying workbook, we also present data by U.S. census areas, Alaska Native corporation regions, and regions used in earlier Alaska Electric Energy Statistics reports.8 Unlike the preliminary version of this report, issued in fall 2012, this final report includes installed capacity data tables for 2011, as well as additional chapters on renewable energy and other Alaska energy information.Alaska Energy AuthorityTable of Contents / List of Tables / List of Figures / Summary and Highlights / Introduction / Electric Sector / Renewable-Sourced Energy in Alaska / Energy in Alaska / Appendix A/ Glossary of Terms / Appendix B.
