The Metallicity of the Intracluster Medium Over Cosmic Time: Further Evidence for Early Enrichment
We use Chandra X-ray data to measure the metallicity of the intracluster
medium (ICM) in 245 massive galaxy clusters selected from X-ray and
Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect surveys, spanning redshifts .
Metallicities were measured in three different radial ranges, spanning cluster
cores through their outskirts. We explore trends in these measurements as a
function of cluster redshift, temperature, and surface brightness "peakiness"
(a proxy for gas cooling efficiency in cluster centers). The data at large
radii (0.5--1 ) are consistent with a constant metallicity, while at
intermediate radii (0.1-0.5 ) we see a late-time increase in
enrichment, consistent with the expected production and mixing of metals in
cluster cores. In cluster centers, there are strong trends of metallicity with
temperature and peakiness, reflecting enhanced metal production in the
lowest-entropy gas. Within the cool-core/sharply peaked cluster population,
there is a large intrinsic scatter in central metallicity and no overall
evolution, indicating significant astrophysical variations in the efficiency of
enrichment. The central metallicity in clusters with flat surface brightness
profiles is lower, with a smaller intrinsic scatter, but increases towards
lower redshifts. Our results are consistent with other recent measurements of
ICM metallicity as a function of redshift. They reinforce the picture implied
by observations of uniform metal distributions in the outskirts of nearby
clusters, in which most of the enrichment of the ICM takes place before cluster
formation, with significant later enrichment taking place only in cluster
centers, as the stellar populations of the central galaxies evolve.Comment: 13 pages. Accepted version, to appear in MNRA

Accretion signatures in the X-shooter spectrum of the substellar companion to SR12
About a dozen substellar companions orbiting young stellar objects or
pre-main sequence stars at several hundred au have been identified in the last
decade. These objects are interesting both due to the uncertainties surrounding
their formation, and because their large separation from the host star offers
the potential to study the atmospheres of young giant planets and brown dwarfs.
Here, we present X-shooter spectroscopy of SR 12 C, a Myrs young
brown dwarf orbiting SR 12 at an orbital separation of 1083 au. We determine
the spectral type, gravity, and effective temperature via comparison with
models and observational templates of young brown dwarfs. In addition, we
detect and characterize accretion using several accretion tracers. We find SR
12 C to be a brown dwarf of spectral type L0 1, g = 4 0.5,
an effective temperature of 2600 100 K. Our spectra provide clear
evidence for accretion at a rate of . This
makes SR 12 one of the few sub-stellar companions with a reliable estimate for
its accretion rate. A comparison of the ages and accretion rates of sub-stellar
companions with young isolated brown dwarfs does not reveal any significant
differences. If further accretion rate measurements of a large number of
substellar companions can confirm this trend, this would hint towards a similar
formation mechanism for substellar companions at large separations and isolated
brown dwarfs

Controlling morphology using low molar mass nucleators
This chapter focuses on the use of low molar mass compounds which self-assemble in to fibrillar structures within a polymer melt. Application of modest shear rate to the system will result in a common alignment of these fibrils which can serve as row nuclei for the subsequent crystallisation of the polymer matrix. Thus the combination of small quantities of a low molar mass compound and modest shear flow leads to a semi-crystalline morphology with a well defined anisotropy and morphology
Electrical conductivity of the Pampean Shallow Subduction Region of Argentina near 33 S: evidence for a slab window
We present a three-dimensional (3-D) interpretation of 117 long period (20–4096 s) magnetotelluric (MT) sites between 31°S and 35°S in western Argentina. They cover the most horizontal part of the Pampean shallow angle subduction of the Nazca Plate and extend south into the more steeply dipping region. Sixty-two 3-D inversions using various smoothing parameters and data misfit goals were done with a nonlinear conjugate gradient (NLCG) algorithm. A dominant feature of the mantle structure east of the horizontal slab is a conductive plume rising from near the top of the mantle transition zone at 410 km to the probable base of the lithosphere at 100 km depth. The subducted slab is known to descend to 190 km just west of the plume, but the Wadati-Benioff zone cannot be traced deeper. If the slab is extrapolated downdip it slices through the plume at 250 km depth. Removal of portions of the plume or blocking vertical current flow at 250 km depth significantly changes the predicted responses. This argues that the plume is not an artifact and that it is continuous. The simplest explanation is that there is a “wedge”-shaped slab window that has torn laterally and opens down to the east with its apex at the plume location. Stress within the slab and seismic tomography support this shape. Its northern edge likely explains why there is no deep seismicity south of 29°S.Fil: Burd, Aurora I.. Kajian Valuasi Ekonomi Hutan Mangrove Di Desa Pasar Banggi, Kecamatan Rembang, Kabupaten Rembang
Economi valuation is an instrument used to know a function of mangrove forest. The object of this research are to find out totalized economic valuation by means of direct valuation at mangrove area Pasar Banggi village, Rembang. Economic valuation can be able by totalized a direct use value, indirect use value, Option value and Existence value. Identification result at Pasar Banggi village are consist by four components there are, direct use values : Bandeng fishponds, saltponds, mangrove seeds, catching fishes, oyster and crab, indirect use values : breakwater as a resists of abration, option value : biodiversity, Existence value : habitats. The biggest value in this research is the resist of abration assumption as breakwater that is as bis as Rp.18.717.774.250-/year and total economic value from economis Pasar Banggi village, Rembang that is as big as Rp.19.610.846.229.-/year
