Organizational readiness for wellness promotion - a survey of 100 African American church leaders in South Los Angeles.
BackgroundChurches are an important asset and a trusted resource in the African American community. We needed a better understanding of their readiness to engage in health promotion before launching a large-scale health promotion effort in partnership with South Los Angeles churches.MethodsIn 2017, we conducted surveys with leaders of 100 churches. Surveys were conducted face-to-face (32%) or by telephone (68%) with senior pastors (one per church) and lasted on average 48 min. We compared small (less than 50 active members), medium (50-99 active members) and large churches (at least 100 active members), and assessed which church characteristics were associated with the implementation of wellness activities.ResultsMedium and large churches conducted significantly more wellness activities than small churches and were more likely to have wellness champions and health policies. Regardless of church size, insufficient budget was the most commonly cited barrier to implement wellness activities (85%). A substantial proportion of churches was not sure how to implement wellness activities (61%) and lacked volunteers (58%). Forty-five percent of the variation in the number of wellness activities in the last 12 months was explained by church characteristics, such as size of congregation, number of paid staff, leadership engagement, having a wellness ministry and barriers.ConclusionsMany churches in South Los Angeles are actively engaged in health promotion activities, despite a general lack of resources. We recommend a comprehensive assessment of church characteristics in intervention studies to enable the use of strategies (e.g., stratification by size) that reduce imbalances that could mask or magnify study outcomes. Our data provide empirical support for the inner settings construct of the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research in the context of health promotion in African American churches
Canon, sebuah Teori Musik sebagai Tema Objek Rancang Sekolah Tinggi Seni Pertunjukan
Me”musik”kan arsitektur, menjadi pemikiran pertama kali sebelum memulai perancangan.
Perbedaan Kadar Formalin Pada Tahu Putih Di Tingkat Produsen Dan Pedagang Kota Semarang Tahun 2016
Indonesian population more to consume plant-based protein than animal-based protein. Plant-based proteins that consumed by many people are tofu and tempeh. Nowadays, in the market is circulating tofu which added harmful preservatives such as formalin. The addition of formalin in tofu can be done by producer or trader. This study aimed to analyze the differences of formaldehyde levels in tofu at the level of producers and of traders in Semarang. This study is quantitative, which use observational analytic type by a cross-sectional plan. The total sample is 24 tofu samples consist of 5 tofu at producer level and 19 tofu at traders level. Analysis of correlation between knowledge, attitude of traders with the presence of formalin using Fisher's exact test. Analysis of tofu sample done qualitatively using chromatropic acid, if positive followed by quantitative analysis using spectrophotometric method. Laboratory test results stating that all the tofu samples at producer level do not contain formaldehyde and 26% of tofu samples at traders level positive containing formalin. Levels of formaldehyde in the samples varied between1.55 to 5049,91 ppm. Tofu with positive formaldehyde content contained in traders with less knowledge category (p-value = 0.011). There is no relationship between attitude of traders with presence of formaldehyde in tofu (p-value = 1.000). There is no relationship between knowledge with attitudes of traders towards the use of formalin in tofu (p-value = 1.000). Education about dangers of formaldehyde should be done intensively and thoroughly to businesses. Society should improve skills in choosing safe food
Effect of Axial Load on the Flexural Properties of an Elastomeric Total Disc Replacement
Study Design. Twelve Cadisc-L devices were subjected to flexion (0°–6°) and extension (0° to -3°) motions at compressive loads between 500 N and 2000 N at a flexural rate between 0.25°/s and 3.0°/s.\ud
\ud
Objective. To quantify the change in flexural properties of the Cadisc-L (elastomeric device), when subjected to increasing magnitudes of axial load and at different flexural rates.\ud
\ud
Summary of Background Data. The design of motion preservation devices, used to replace degenerated intervertebral discs, is commonly based on a low-friction, ball-and-socket-articulating joint. Recently, elastomeric implants have been developed that attempt to provide mechanical and motion properties that resemble those of the natural disc more closely.\ud
\ud
Methods. Twelve Cadisc-L devices (MC-10 mm-9° and MC-10 mm-12° size) were supplied by Ranier Technology Ltd (Cambridge, United Kingdom). The devices were hydrated and tested using a Bose spinal disc-testing machine (Bose Corporation, ElectroForce Systems Group, Eden Prairie, MN) in Ringer's solution at 37°C. A static load of 500 N was applied to a device and it was then subjected to motions of 0° to 6° to 0° (flexion) and 0° to -3° to 0° (extension) at a flexural rate of 0.25°/s, 0.5°/s, 1.0°/s, 1.5°/s, 2.0°/s, and 3.0°/s. Tests were repeated at 1000 N, 1500 N, and 2000 N.\ud
\ud
Results. Regression analyses showed a significant ( > 0.99, < 0.05) linear increase in bending moment and flexural stiffness with flexion and extension angles (at 1000 N and higher loads)—a significant (> 0.994, < 0.05) linear decrease in flexural stiffness in flexion and extension as flexural rate increased.\ud
\ud
Conclusion. The bending moment of the Cadisc-L increased linearly with flexion and extension angles at 1000 N and higher loads. Flexural stiffness increased with compressive load but decreased with flexural rate.\ud

Vasopressin for the management of catecholamine-resistant anaphylactic shock
Severe anaesthetic anaphylaxis is relatively uncommon. Oxygen, fluids and epinephrine are considered to be the mainstay for treatment of cardiovascular collapse and current guidelines for the management of anaphylaxis list only epinephrine as a vasopressor to use in the event of a cardiovascular collapse. Recently, evidence has emerged in the support of the use of vasopressin in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, it is also recommended for the treatment of ventricular fibrillation, septic shock and post-cardiopulmonary bypass distribution shock. Currently, there is no algorithm or guideline for the management of anaphylaxis that include the use of vasopressin. We report a 24-year-old woman who developed severe anaphylactic shock at induction of anaesthesia while undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Circulation shock was refractory to epinephrine and high doses of pure alpha-agonist phenylephrine and norepinephrine. Single intravenous dose of two units of vasopressin re-established normal circulation and blood pressure
Cooperative Throttle and Brake Fuzzy Control for ACC+Stop&Go Maneuvers
The authors are with the Industrial Computer Science Department,
Instituto de Automática Industrial (CSIC), 28500 Madrid, SpainThe goal that a car be driven autonomously is far in
the future and probably unreachable, but as a first step in that
direction, adaptive cruise control (ACC) and Stop&Go maneuver
systems are being developed. These kind of controllers adapt the
speed of a car to that of the preceding one (ACC) and get the car
to stop if the lead car stops. This paper presents one such system
and related experiments performed on a real road with real cars.
The driving system gets its input via an RTK DGPS device and
communicates its positions to one another via a wireless local area
network link. It outputs signals controlling the pressure on the
throttle and brake pedals. The control system is based on fuzzy
logic, which is considered best to deal with processes as complex
as driving. Two mass produced Citroën Berlingo electric vans
have been instrumented, providing them with computer controlled
actuators over the brake and the throttle to achieve human-like
driving. The results of the experiments show that the behavior of
the vehicles is very close to human and that they adapt to driving
incidences, increasing the safety of the driving and permitting
cooperation with manually driven cars.This

Analysis of interactions between Information system, Communication and Marketing in Organizations
Communication, Information system and Marketing are a high and real value-added function for any organization. It needs to be clearly situated in the structure of organization to play completely their role. According to the Level of development of the organization, the company or the country, their place and their attributions are often badly defined. Their interactions also. We believe that numerous factors macro as those of the external environment and the micro as those of the business sector of the organization, its size, its structure have a determining role. To validate our hypotheses, we realized an empirical study on a sample of 262 Moroccan organizations, between companies and organizations other than companies. This work on analysis of interactions between information system, communication and marketing in organizations could server as well to the researchers, to the professionals, as to the managers

Phage PBL1c was originally isolated in 1984 from a P. larvae lysogen, while the remaining phages were isolated in 2014 from bee debris, honeycomb, and lysogens from three states in the USA
Population Pharmacokinetics of Liposomal Amphotericin B in Immunocompromised Children
BACKGROUND
Liposomal amphotericin B (LAmB) is widely used in the treatment of invasive fungal disease (IFD) in adults and children. There are relatively limited PK data to inform optimal dosing in children that achieves systemic drug exposures comparable to those of adults.
OBJECTIVES
To describe the pharmacokinetics of LAmB in children aged 1-17 years with suspected or documented IFD.
METHODS
Thirty-five children were treated with LAmB at dosages of 2.5-10 mg kg(-1) daily. Samples were taken at baseline and at 0.5-2.0 hourly intervals for twenty-four hours after receipt of the first dose (n=35 patients) and on the final day of therapy (n=25 patients). LAmB was measured using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The relationship between drug exposure and development of toxicity was explored.
RESULTS
An evolution in PK was observed during the course of therapy resulting in a proportion of patients (n=13) having significantly higher maximum serum concentration (Cmax) and area under the concentration time curve (AUC0-24) later in the course of therapy, without evidence of drug accumulation (Cmin accumulation ratio, AR < 1.2). The fit of a 2-compartment model incorporating weight and an exponential decay function describing volume of distribution best described the data. There was a statistically significant relationship between mean AUC0-24 and probability of nephrotoxicity (OR 2.37; 95% CI 1.84-3.22, p=0.004).
CONCLUSIONS
LAmB exhibits nonlinear pharmacokinetics. A third of children appear to experience a time-dependent change in PK, which is not explained by weight, maturation or observed clinical factors
