Asymptotic Behavior of Solutions for the Cauchy Problem of a Dissipative Boussinesq-Type Equation
We consider the Cauchy problem for an evolution equation modeling
bidirectional surface waves in a convecting fluid. Under small condition on the
initial value, the existence and asymptotic behavior of global solutions in
some time weighted spaces are established by the contraction mapping principle
RISK IN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND IMPLICATIONS FOR EXTENSION PROGRAMMING - RESULTS OF FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSIONS WITH DAIRY AND GREEN INDUSTRY MANAGERS
Employees are both a source of risk and means of addressing risk, and good employee management practices can increase risk resilience. Forty green industry managers and 22 dairy managers discussed personnel issues related to their industry. Influx of Hispanic labor has changed personnel management and the focus of risk management.Teaching/Communication/Extension/Profession,
Using The “Dash” (Duplicated Answer Sheets) Method In Improving Students' Reading Comprehension
This study aims at finding out to what extent DASH method improves students' reading comprehension and how good the students' improvement regarding their reading comprehension after taught through DASH method. This study was conducted at SMAN 1 Tanete Rilau, Barru Regency. The study used pre-experimental design involving only one class to observe, out of two hundred-eighty population of eleventh-grade students of IPA-II classes at SMAN-1 Tanete Rilau in academic year 2014/2015. The technique sampling was cluster random sampling. The instruments of collecting data used in this study were multiple choice and essay which were used to measure the students' comprehension in reading. Based on the data collected from the students showed that the post-test value is higher than pre-test table, so the null hypothesis is rejected. It means there is an influence of “DASH” (Duplicated Answer Sheets) method on student reading ability. So the students have responsibility and feel enjoy the learning process. It means that can “DASH” (Duplicated Answer Sheets) method be used as one of the alternatives to teach reading. Further study is suggested to conduct the investigation of other teaching method or strategy that can be applied by the teacher to encourage their student in reading comprehension
Student Politics in Urban Ternate, North Maluku
This article examines student politics articulated by university students in contemporary Ternate, North Maluku. The involvement of students in the political arena in the region is mostly organized through regional (ethnic) organizations. The larger context of such political process is decentralisation, which make religional resource resources dominated by the state. At the same time competition among local elites and ethnic groups flourish. This is the main background of a new formation of group interests in local level –-including local university students-- to gain group advantages. The case of Ternate, North Maluku, is an example of how groups of students organize their practical interests in the arena of politics by exploiting youth associations and ethnic organizations.
Heavy metal contamination in some soils of the McMurdo Sound region, Antarctica
Soil samples from eight sites at Marble Point and Pram Point, McMurdo Sound region, contaminated by human activities were examined for heavy metal content, using sequential extraction methods. The redistribution of lead, zinc and copper arising from point sources of these metals was demonstrated. The levels found are not considered to represent serious pollution but do indicate that human activities can change the chemistry of the Antarctic environment in localized areas
Epidemiology of antibiotic resistance in culture-positive hospitalized patients in selected hospitals in Khartoum, Sudan
Objective: To study the prevelence of antibiotic resistance and the prevalent bacterial isolates in hospitalized patients in Khartoum hospitals.
Materials & Methods: A cross-sectional prevalence study was carried out during the period of April–November 2015 in Khartoum; 226 bacterial cultures were included. Identification of isolates using standard biochemical tests and antibiotic susceptibilities were determined using disc diffusion method. Results were interpreted according to the standards of the British society of antimicrobial chemotherapy.
Results: Eight bacterial species were isolated: Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus spp., Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas spp., Escherichia coli, Proteus spp., and Acinetobacter spp. S. aureus was the most prevalent, the majority of which were resistant to methicillin/oxacillin (MRSA). Cultures in our study were mainly from urine (36.7%), blood samples (37.2%), and wound cultures (19%). More than 90% of the tested isolates were resistant to cefuroxime; 54% and 73.8% of Gram-positive and Gram-negative isolates, respectively, were resistant to ceftazidime. Furthermore, there was a high meropenem resistance among Gram-negative isolates tested. Multi-resistant Acinetobacter spp. as well as vancomycin-resistant S. aureus was isolated. Gram-negative isolates showed good susceptibilities to aminoglycosides as well as ciprofloxacin. However, the high resistance rate to these antibiotics was observed in Gram-positive isolates in these hospitals.
Conclusion: Methicillin-resistant S. aureus was the most prevalent organism. Gramnegative isolates showed good susceptibilities to aminoglycosides and ciprofloxacin. There were high resistance rates to cefuroxime, ceftazidime, and meropenem. Five vancomycin-resistant S. aureus were identified
Bandgap engineering of Cd1-xSrxO
Structural, electronic and optical properties of Cd1-xSrxO (0 \leq x \leq 1)
are calculated for the first time using density functional theory. Our results
show that these properties are strongly dependent on x. The bond between Cd and
O is partially covalent and the covalent nature of the bond decreases as the
concentration of Sr increases from 0 to 100%. It is found that Cd1-xSrxO is an
indirect bandgap compound for the entire range of x and the bandgap of the
alloy increases from 0.85 to 6.00 eV with the increase in Sr concentration.
Frequency dependent dielectric functions {\epsilon}1({\omega}),
{\epsilon}2({\omega}), refractive index n({\omega}) and absorption coefficient
{\alpha}({\omega}) are also calculated and discussed in details. The peak value
of refractive indices shifts to higher energy regions with the increase in Sr.
The striking feature of these alloys is that Cd0.5Sr0.5O is an anisotropic
material. The larger value of the extraordinary refractive index confirms that
the material is positive birefringence crystal. The present comprehensive
theoretical study of the optoelectronic properties of the material predicts
that it can be effectively used in optoelectronic applications in the wide
range of spectrum; IR, visible and UV
